Not sure whether this is in the correct box. However, Mabel suffers with an itch related to pollen, grasses, etc. When we adopted her she came with a lot of stuff including Apoquel tablets to be used ‘as required’. It was in the beginning of April that she started to scratch frantically and wash her paws. I gave her a bath and started her on tablets from Dorwest - Green Releaf and Garlic & Fenugreek. Perhaps I was expecting too much too soon as her itching didn’t abate. Having gone through the ‘goodie bag’ that came with her I came across the Apoquel tablets. Half of one showed results within hours and so, during the summer, I’ve been giving her half a tablet every morning and there’s been no frantic scratching. I stopped the tablets three days ago and, sure enough, she’s started to scratch again so it’s back to half a tablet a day. With the end of the summer I’ll reduce the regime to alternate days BUT I’d rather have her on a natural course. My question - has anyone been through a similar situation and found an easier path than prescribed tablets? Regards to all and thanks for reading my request.

I don't know if it would be enough to do away with the apoquel completely, but washing her down (paws, belly) in plain water as she comes in from outside may help a bit - keep a bucket of warm water and a flannel by the door.

Although she had an allergy problem last time, be aware that this is harvest mite season and BOY do they cause itching. So it might be a different cause.

Yep- we've got an itchy boy. I don't think we ever really get to the bottom of what it is- so just treat symptoms. I think we've come to conclusion he has sensitive skin and probably reacts to numerous causes.
