We had decided that we were not going to have a holiday this year but it seems like a long wait till Christmas so we've now decided to have either a long weekend or maybe even a week in or near Whitby. 8)

Does anyone know of either a self catering cottage or a static caravan in this area suitable for 2 adults & 3 dogs?

Also any advice on good safe off lead walks up that way would be helpful too :)

Thanks,

Julie.

Hi Julie,

We stayed at a cottage called the Hermitage about 7 miles from whitby. We booked through sykescottages.co.uk. Very nice, not sure if they will take 3 dogs but they have 2 of their own so quite possibly :) Its quite small but big enough for 2 people.

If you can't find anything on sykes, we have just booked with welcome cottages which were recommended to us, going on monday to the peak district :D

One thing I would mention about dog walks is be careful on farm land and dogs off lead. Don't know if you remember a bit earlier this year a man posting on here after having his spaniels shot. This person was local to the area so may have been a neighbourly dispute, but a bit more nasty :( The only reason I bought that up is because this happened in the nearest village to that cottage! If in doubt, keep them on a lead!!! Have fun wherever you go, there are some beautiful beaches

There's also the book 'Dogs Welcome' which we have used in the past. It is published each year so the entries are up to date.

We used it quite a lot for the oxfordshire/cotswolds area and were not disappointed.

Thanks everyone. I have ordered Pets Welcome so hopefully will find somewhere, Our friends have decided they want to come with us so we are now looking for either 2 ajoining places or one big one but as our Rafferty (bedlington) and their Lucy(westie) dont like one another very much that may be out of the question (w00t) Bloody terriers!!!

We stayed at Robin Hoods Bay in Whitby not so long ago and it is absolutely gorgeous.

:luck: finding suitable accomodation
