SENNE

**UPDATED: APRIL 2013**

Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Senne would love a foster home while she waits for her forever home.

Key Points: Sweet, delicate, good with greyhounds, learning to trust, walks to heel, good in car.

Little Senne is a 3 year old greyhound girl who came across from Ireland with her sister Alva to find a loving home to call her own. She has spent all her life so far in racing kennels, and is very much needing some love and comfort in her life.

Senne is a petite little black girl with huge, beautiful brown eyes and a very intelligent expression. She is very slender and dainty, and surely wouldn’t take up much space on a sofa! Her black coat is a bit lack-lustre at the moment, but we hope it will get a nice gloss to it soon.

~ Personality ~

Generally: Very sweet, sensitive, shy & timid, needs confidence building & TLC.

Senne is a really lovely little girl, sweet, shy and sensitive. She is still getting used to the huge change of leaving her racing kennel for the first time, but she is getting there and is gradually learning to trust us. It’s clear that she isn’t used to receiving lots of affection, and so doesn’t know how to ask for it or even know what it’s all about. This girlie really needs a home environment to truly blossom, so if anyone can offer a foster space please do get in touch. With a bit of patience and TLC this lady has the potential to transform completely, and it will be just beautiful to see.

~ In the Home ~

Generally: Not yet in a home environment.

Sweet Senne has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.

~ Other Animals ~

Generally: Very good with other greyhounds, not checked with small dogs yet. Not suitable for cats.

Senne is very good with the other greyhounds in the kennels and benefits from their company. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs! Senne will most likely need another dog or two in her future home to help her settle and show her the ropes. She has a lot to learn about the home life, but all she needs is a bit of patience and repetition.

~ Out and About ~

Generally: Walks to heel, not overly active, well behaved, good traveller.

Senne walks like a dream on the lead and doesn’t pull. She loves her walks and it’s a very good time to bond with her. She travels good in the car, and is also ok at coping with traffic. Like most greyhounds, Senne is not overly active and so will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

~ Where Am I? ~

Senne is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Senne is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Senne, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html or Fostering Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/Fostering.html .

Thank you.

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us via the following:
