I've just looked at the website http://www.irishgamefair.com/fair.asp

While some parts of it have been updated, the details for lurcher and terrier events still refer to 2009.

I wonder do they still plan to have racing on Sat and lurcher/terrier show on Sunday?

I have received in the post a schedule for a KC open show for gundogs, hounds and terriers to be held at Shane's Castle on Sat 26 June. For those of you with kennel club registered purebred dogs (as well as your lurchers), this could be a good opportunity as the entry fee per exhibitor (£8 for first entry, £1 for additional entries) includes an admission ticket to the fair for the day. The KC show starts at 10 am, so if the racing doesn't get underway until 2 pm, pedigree whippets could show first and race after. Is that the way it will work?

(I may be away at ped. whippet racing open in Scotland unfortunately!)

Macha,

Sites will be updated next week. We are still finalising our prizes with some major sponsors and as we don't like to promise anything that actually isn't there we don't update until everything is in place. It is racing on Saturday ( 1pm) and show on Sunday ( 1pm)

Well spotted on the new 'hound ' section of the pedigree dog show! We try to equalise all or our ticket prices to give good value to to everyone but I should point out that the pedigree KC show is on the Saturday only. If you can show there and run in the afternoon then that is a good deal but for whippet, terrier & lurcher owners wanting to come both days they can get a pre paid ticket 2 day from me ( up to June 17th) for £10.

Margaret,

No you must enter in advance for the pedigree show. To get entry forms call Dorothy Park 0n 028 9446 7961

The pedigree show is being run by THE NI GUNDOG FIELD & SHOW SOCIETY and has classes for most types of Gundogs, Terriers and Hounds - which have to have to be registered with the English Kennel Club to enter.

The classes for whippets are as follows :

Open Bitch

Definition of what these classes actually mean can be found in the schedule for the show, which as has been mentioned, can be obtained from Dorothy Park Tel: 028 94467961
