A few miles outside the Village of Clough, Co Down and set in the shadow of the beautiful mountains of Mourne, was the venue for the annual Shannagh Working Terrier Club Dog Show last Saturday. The sun shone in abundance, with not a cloud in sight as we made our way through the winding roads and beautiful countryside of this wonderful home land of ours. Although the crowd was medium size in attendance, the craic and commaradrie was good. There were many of the usual show goers there, but also quite a few new people whom I had the pleasure of meeting on the day. There was a chip van and toilet facilities on site and plenty of space for the wee people to run around and enjoy themselves. Some sleepy heads on Saturday night. The show commenced at 1.30pm starting with the Racing.

A Big Congratulations to Team 1 on winning the competition and also to Team 2 and 3 for taking part and being a great sport. The master of the digging competition was there, keeping an eye on the clock and all the happenings and duly counted down time at the end of the dig. The digging competition was some craic. Them poor men got some slagging from us women. I always enjoy this part of the show. Absolutely great fun and entertainment for all.

And finally, there was quite a lot of hard work and organisation went into setting this show up at such short notice. All credit goes to these two gentlemen, Paddy Gilmore and Sean Fowler for doing a wonderful job, and giving so many families a day out to remember in the heart of the Mournes. Many thanks Sean and Paddy for that. The judges on the day were Steven Morgan and Mick Mc Nabb. You carried out your judging duties firm but fair and sent so many satisfied and happy people home with smiles on their faces. Judging in an any area is not an easy job, and on this occassion you both came out with top marks. A job well done. We cannot forget the farmer who gave the field for the show. Many thanks for the lovely location. Without you this most enjoyable day would not of been possible. And of course "Bluebell " Deidre Mc Coy was there to record all our moments of glory. This lady is always there right on que to snap that moment when it matters most, with the trophys in our hands. Deidre many thanks for being there. Look forward to seeing photgraphs up shortly in Dog Shows in Ireland. An unforgettable day, with good company and I am already looking forward to the same next year. Thanks again Sean and Paddy.
