It's just a little place you can put a one line comment quickly & easily. Perhaps it has no place on K9 but it's part of the standard Portal software so it's included by default.

it's a shame that you have to actually go there to look at it, because i never think of doing so and have probably missed loads of time-sensitive shouts, like "Whippets on TV NOW!!"

I don't usually go to that page (I guess it's like the front page of a newspaper) - my bookmark takes me straight to the forums page and I find out all the new posts by clicking on the link in the top right hand corner which says 'View New Posts'... but if you've bookmarked the front page/home page then you're going there anyway so don't worry :thumbsup:
