Sickening Attack

This really doesn't add up - the people who killed the dog are describing a fairly horrific attack yet the police are saying no offence was committed under the DDA?

I sincerely hope the girl's injuries aren't serious, but I do wonder if battering the dog to death with a baseball bat was necessary or whether the people over-reacted.

It's also a bit off that this happened over a week ago and has been reported now. Yet another newspaper jumping on the 'dangerous dogs attack children' bandwagon, methinks.

I agree with the jumping on the band wagon theory. The media will go out of their way now for stories like this unfortunately. :(

I think there is a lot more to the story than mentioned in the article. To me, it sounds like a right rough neighbourhood and perhaps there might have been a grudge against the dog/owner.

Surely the dog could have been restrained in a shed/room/car untill the police got there to deal with it. No animal deserves to suffer a death like that. The people that did it sounded like they were almost boasting about it in the article.

I have every sympathy for the girl, but I do think the whole situation sounded very suss.

Surely, it does not matter how badly the girl was injured the dog was at large, unsuppervised and attacked child.

Most likely this was written by a junior trainee "reporter" who got it wrong, and just one more reason why not to take too seriously what we read it newspapers.
