Sid was sick :x on my beige carpet. Trouble was I didn't realise until the evening when oh trod in it :x At first I wiped it with cold water and have tried a squirty carpet cleaner but am still left with a big dark mark.

Has anyone got any carpet cleaning tips.

I have had this trouble in our bedroom, the carpet is beige in there too and one of our lot had a little accident on it about a year ago now, resulting in a dark mark,I have tried everything to remove it and the only thing that has worked for me is Vanish carpet mousse it is in a spray can,it does work but initially but after a period of time of people walking on the spot the dark mark creeps back again?? and I have to use the Vanish to remove it.

I will be very interested to read what replies you get as this is driving me nuts!!! I don't mind doing a job,but not over and over again!! :(

Simple, cut out the offending carpet, remove bed, and cut a pc out from there, and if you wanna, put the offending pc back under bed, god thats taxed my brain

keith in a world of my own

If the stain keeps coming back, unfortunately its probably caused by moisture in whatever is underneath the carpet, be it floorboards, underlay or the black stuff they used to paint on concrete floors, so cleaning wont help. Sorry.

Many years ago worked in the customer service department for a carpet manufacturer. Contact the manufacturer. They really are your best bet....they deal with this sort of problem all the time , and they know the best treatment for your carpet :luck:

The thought has crossed my mind Keith,I jest ye not!

...maybe bit of lemon/lemon juice could help (it works like gentle bleach on dark marks)...I have not tried it yet as I did not have chance, but maybe it would help...

I would not use it on dark carpets, but light colour one should be ok...

Hmmm, very odd? Under our carpet is all concrete floors and there is no underlay or anything painted on the conrete, well not that I can see anyway.Do you think that maybe there is a clear sealer painted on the concrete as there is def no color on it?? the carpet is one of those ones that does'nt need any underlay as it has one built in.Maybe that is what is causing the problem?

I can see a new carpet being on the horizon.

Thanks for that Tesa,I never even thought about doing that.....doh! :b

I have a steamer and it is brilliant for removing stains - do you know anyone who has one that you can borow to try out. Biological washing powder/liquid is a good cleaner and helps to kill smells as does distilled vinegar (I wouldn't use the coloured type on a light coloured carpet)

The best way if you aren't using a steamer is to use plenty of water and stand old towels in to dry up up after - I use 4 or 5 towels and it can take 2 or 3 days to get it all out, the towel will be quite discoloured at first but should be clean by the time you have finished

 Good Luck

Oxyclean is absolutely the BEST stuff for stains of almost any kind.

Have never heard of that Wendy, where would I get it from?

Thanks everybody for the tips. The really annoying thing is that I have wood flooring everywhere, which is brilliant for "accidents", but not in the lounge. Don't you just love them - only a whippet will have a "mis-hap" in comfort o:)

You need to wipe/rinse off the cleaning agent, as it leaves a sticky residue, and attracts more dirt quite quickly.

It took a while to catch on in this country. I've got it from Makro and from Robert Dyas (depending on what area of the country you're in).

It's GREAT stuff.

Whoops - should be spelled OXICLEAN

Do a google search for it and hopefully you'll find a supplier.
