thinking about giving my whippet a go. is there any where in the north east where you can school a dog on the simulated lure. she is track trained 22 inch???????

looks like there is no clubs/coarsing schooling in the north east. pity i think sadie would enjoy the jinking lure.

Hi David

theres nothing up your way at the moment, best bet would be to try and set something up .

what does the lure go round to make it turn??????? is there a standard distsnce run up and turns

Hi David,

The lure goes round pulleys to cause it to turn (ive included a pic below of some a freind makes.) theres no set distance for the run up or the course it all comes down to what you want to do.

over the 7 years ive run lure coursing meetings i've set up courses ranging from 400 up to 900yds the run up is normaly 70-100yds then the distance between pullys varies to give a varied course so it doesnt just suit a fast or slow dog.

We have used up to 10 rollers on a big course but 5-6 will give you a good course.

5or6 is pushing it a bit if you're looking for a meaningful course for quality dogs to express themselves. 10 plus would be more appropriate

Hi David

the more the better realy, the bigger the course you set up the more of a test for the dogs.

idealy you would want a course over 600yds.

i'm just in the process of sorting things out for this winter for the NWLCC so i'll give you a shout to as and when ect if you fancy a ride down.

if you want but as you know we dont mess about with all that stuff we just get on with enjoying the day.

BUT as your offering to help you'll be very busy.

Sarah ~ as long as enough people are willing to help i'm happy to organise and part run them but as always many hands make light work

Do i get a rest  this season when it all starts up again :sweating:   :sweating:
A condition of entry will be that everyone helps with a job as and when needed so nobody should get stuck doing anything all day.

fair dos, bob will be chuffed with that.... his feet were killing for days after with all that running around with the lure. :D
