As most of you know, we lost our beloved Sam in July to Lymphoma at the age of twelve and a half. He had been a Rescue dog and we had known and loved him since the age of 7 months.
The autoimmune condition struck aged 15 months, and from then on it was a daily battle to keep him and his body in comfort. He fought a brave fight, never complaining, always kind and gentle even on his bad days.
We brought Jacques in for Sam two years ago, and the last two years of Sam's life were enriched and fun.
As a `thank you` to the JR Whippet Rescue, an artist friend has sketched our favourite pic of Sam in his bed, and we have donated it to the Rescue to use in their card range if they like it. A little something given back in memory of a brave, kind, gentle, loving whippet boy, whose life was a constant struggle but who enriched our lives by his courage, patience and love.
Here is the sketch I hope the Rescue will use. If they do, please support it if you can. They were brilliant in helping us part-fund the very costly medication which gave Sam 7 extra years.
Sam the Patchwork Whippet is immortalised in print for the children, thru stories of his adventures with his canine and equine friends. Our local Lower School has his first adventure and I intend doing a book which will include 7. The Rescue will have that in time, too.
