SNOOP
**UPDATED: MAY 2013**
Location: Kennels in Norfolk, UK. Snoop would love a foster home while he waits for his forever family.
Key Points: Just about perfect! Chilled out, laid back, affectionate, bonds to people, excellent with other dogs, walks to heel, great in the car, not yet experienced a home.
Please say hi to Snoop! Snoop (or Snoop Dawg as everyone calls him!) is a lovely lurcher lad who is approx 2 years old. He has the most beautiful markings, with dalmation-esque spots all over, ears that don’t quite match and wonderful amber eyes. He currently has a really thick kennel coat and is definitely overdue a bath and brush, and we can't wait to see him once all the dead hair is gone. He is a very beautiful boy.
Snoop was rescued off the streets in Ireland in a poor condition and has now come across to the UK in the hopes of finding him a loving home of his own. He most definitely deserves some home comforts after his not-so-great start to life.

~ Personality ~
Generally: Very easy going, mannerly, loving, responsive to people, gives good eye contact, unflappable.
Snoop is one of the most chilled dogs you’re going to meet! He’s fantastically relaxed, laid back and nothing ‘ruffles his feathers’ in the slightest. You can take him anywhere! His calm demeanour means he may not rush up to say hi, but please don’t mistake that for a lack of affection – give Snoop a 10 minute walk and you will see how loving he is. He is very responsive to people and develops a bond extremely quickly. He likes to ‘check in’ on walks by nosing your hand or looking up at you, and he is very happy to follow you wherever you go. He gives good eye contact and will literally reverse into you when asking for a butt scratch! This boy is just a delight, incredibly easy-going and we can't wait to see him in a loving home. Someone is going to be very lucky indeed.
~ In the Home ~
Generally: Not yet experienced a home.
Snoop has sadly not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes about 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all Snoop needs is a bit of time and patience. Given his beautiful nature, we don’t expect him to be much trouble at all.
~ Other Animals ~
Generally: Very mannerly and calm with other dogs. Engaging and polite. Not cat friendly.
Snoop is excellent with other dogs and his easy-going nature puts other more nervous dogs at ease. He is very happy to say hi to new dogs and people alike, but doesn’t tend to get over excited and is very happy to continue on after a polite sniff. He may be suitable as an only dog simply because he is so chilled, but we expect he would happily settle into a multidog household also.
Snoop is not suitable to live with cats. The only thing that perks this chillaxed boy’s interest is the occasional lazy bird or squirrel. He doesn’t pull much, however, and remains responsive to the lead.
~ Out and About ~
Generally: Walks like a feather, responsive to correction, suitable to be offlead with recall work, travels well.
Snoop walks like a dream on the lead, a child could easily walk him. He trots along happily by your side and is content to be taken anywhere. He is very responsive to the lead and is a joy to bring on walks. Snoop also travels fantastically in the car. Even on long journeys he is very happy to just sit and snooze.
Like most sighthound types, Snoop isn’t overly energetic and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day with some fun in between. After a bond has developed with his new owners and some work on recall has been done in the home, Snoop will be suitable to be let offlead in safe areas away from public roads.
~ Where Am I? ~
Snoop is currently in kennels in Norfolk. He can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you may be required to travel to our rescue to meet and collect him.
~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Snoop Dawg is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.
If you are interested in adopting or fostering Snoop, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.
There are application forms for both adopting and fostering Snoop, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/adoption.html or Fostering Page: http://s300889640.websitehome.co.uk/uk/Fostering.html .
Thank you.
