Was walking around our local lake with Scarlett and saw a gorgeous English Bull Terrier having a sniff in long grass. He seemed friendly and came over to say hello like a gent.Toook quite a shine to Scarlett and was happy to trot along side her and glance at her lovingly. I was concerned as dog wasnt wearing a collar and looked well looked after. Anyway came across a man who commented what lovely dogs I had and he asked " Are they both yours?" I said that the English Bull was just following me.Guess what the man said??

"Ohhhhhhh you want to grab him and sell him!,worth a lot them dogs!!!" I was furious. I broke into a slight jog hoping to get distance from this fruit loopy guy,was wearing flip flops, so wasnt that easy  . I then bumped into a lady with a push chair who looke worried and quite frantic! She was looking for her dog,Barney, and English Bull :D Was so happy they were re united! Apparently he had run out when someone had left front door open.

When I told her what the man had said she almost burst into tears!

She said in future he wont be out of her sight and is getting stable type door so he cannot get out as the whole family would be so heart broken if anything happened to their family member.Bottom line: Watch your dogs closely this summer cause some "germ" will be.

oh dear lord  people like that who only see ££££££ when they look at an animal need shooting

thank christ you were there, i shudder to think what might have happened to him :(

how lucky you were there hon!

i can't take folks with pound signs where their pupils should be .... you couldn't possibly get the kind of money that my dog's worth to me - and i don't personally know any dog owner that feels any different!

am glad the EBT and his family were reunited

OMG GOOD JOB YOU WERE THERE HATE TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED

yeah watch ur dogs,, i had a lucky escape a few years bak, the dog is question was never out of my site i got rid of my xr2 and got a diesel van so she gud cum with me wherever i went, i was playing darts on a friday night had to pick a m8 up so decided the leave the dog at home when i got to the place to pick my m8 up he wasnt there so popped into the club to get a quick half, 20 minutes later no van,

my thoughts quickly went to sadie if she had been in the back of the van then i would have lost a real gem, she was a quiet dog so they wouldnt even know she was there, man i was lucky.. since that day im very very aware..

I'm paranoid about our dogs getting into the wrong hands and hearing stories like this just make it all the more horrifying.

You really cant be too carefull.

Thanks goodness the EBT found you.

I feel sick after reading that! I would HATE anything like that to happen to any of mine.

Thanks everyone! Just get so annoyed when peeps show disregard for an animals feelings or for their family.Next time ill wear trainers not flip flops so i can run faster!

The world seems to be full of unsrupulous yobs. A couple of years ago, a friend was offered money for his cream Saluki bitch while he was walking her - he refused. 2 days later while he was at work and his wife was shopping, someone broke into the house, the neighbour heard the racket and came to the back door but was knocked over by the yob stealing the Saluki. She has never been seen since. I can't even begin to imagine how I would feel if it was one of mine.

Bloody Ell,

get them flip flops changed,

I was asked upteen times last year, "Where you from ?, Where you live ?, so I told folk a different place, then I go on K9 and say Mike from Hereford , DOH !!

I,m ok (fingers crossed) where I live, but I trust no-one (nor should you)

Mike

So glad to hear the Bully got home safely. :)

One very good piece if advice someone told me is if anyone does show too much interest in your dogs when you are out & about with them......dont go straight home. Go to a shop or other public place in case the scumbags follow you & find out where the dogs live.

Stay safe everyone... I for one would gladly rip the head off anyone that tried to take my dogs

In morning Chris walks boys and I take Scarlett round lake, they too naughty all together first thing. Many peeps stop us and want a stroke.

Do have some peeps ask what breed she is and how much she cost.I tell them she is a Viszla and that she on meds which cost a fortune! (w00t) I know its a little naughty but its the less of two evils eh! But just in case they were getting any ideas it hopefully puts them off.

Many times we change our route. A certain amount of paranoia is essential, dont ever want to hear myself mutter those awful words"I didnt think it would happen to me!" Truth is it can happen but ill make ever effort to protect our pups :huggles:

This is a good ploy Jaxs. When people used to ask me in the pub if I raced my dog, Id I always tell them I would consider it, but now I would tell them that shes a rescue on heart medication, After seeing some of the posts on here, Id be very wary of telling any stranger how proud I was of my dog, however good (or not) she might be.
