Stunning pictures! How do you ever get near the blue ones at rest?!!
 
Fantastic pics, I love the coloured ones but those massive brown ones scare the s..t out of me !!!!
 
The first two are dragonflies the others are damson flies you can tell with the wings dragans have there wings out at the sides the others lie at the sides and are alot smaller.

Lovely photos. My daughter will be amazed when I show them to her tomorrow morning. She loves nature and although she is scared of all insect type things she will be entranced.

stunning pics mick... can be really difficult to get the wings sharp on those but you nailed it mate

id just read about them in the caravan club mag (w00t) (w00t) and we used to get loads of them in our pond when we lived in Gosport hants miss them realy :unsure:
 
I never knew that about dragonflies and damsel flies - thought they were all the same thing! :b Fantastic shots Mick - must have needed quite a lot of patience to capture them. :thumbsup: When we lived in Norfolk we always had plenty of those flitting about the garden - I loved to watch them. :)

I love dragonflies (I have a tattoo of 3 of them flying up my back) and those pics are totally awesome, Well done :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
Great Photos

I believe that Dragonflies can fly slightly faster than Whippets can run (about 7 km/h faster)
 
Cracking pics , i am still struggling to get close enough to get a decent one :lol:
