Apologies that this isn't directly linked to whippets, but I thought perhaps I may find some similar minded people on here that might be able to help.

I am looking to rehome a british shorthair cat. I have one already (female) who is about7 years old now, and, of course, I have Pixie whippet. I am not actively hunting a kitten, but would readily rehome an older cat. I have a safe enclosed garden. i do not let my cat out loose in the area as my previous cat sadly got knocked down and I really don't want the same to happen again. I find my british shorthair is not the most active of cats , actually she is a downright couch potato, so she is more than happy with the area provided.

I wondered if any of you involved in rehoming charitys would have any advice for me. i am in no rush, just eager to help a cat in need, if there are any out there!!!

ps. My whippet Pixie was one year old on Monday!!! Scary! Where did that time go?? Obviously we had a celebration at the stables for her , inc cake, although we ate most of it whiel Pixie did her usual zoom around the fields

Have you tried the Blue Cross or the Cats Protection League? They will have plenty of cats looking for homes.

There is a Blue Cross Rehoming centre in Tiverton - (not sure where in Devon you're located).

Yes I've had a look at the cats protection and blue cross websites. They don't seem to have any british shorthairs or similar crosses in at present. I know it sounds like I am being picky, but Saffy, my cat, only gets on with other low activity cats, she gets very worried around 'normal ' cats- she is a bit special needs!

Also the charities seem to be a bit funny about having cats mainly as house cats. They have told my friends who have approached them that the cat must have access to roam outdoors all day. I do have a small garden that I let my cat in, but I am really not keen on letting my pets roam the streets to get knocked down by cars. Also I feel for my garden proud neighbours who have problems with other cats spoiling their pretty borders. Saffy really is not interested in leaving the house, unless it is a very sunny day, then she will go in the garden if I am out there. That is why I'd really like another cat similar to her. As I said before, I am happy to have either a kitten or cat (of any age).

Maybe I shall just stick to one cat and one whippet! It was just a thought that perhaps I could help out if there was something suitable needing a home
