Princess Sasha is a beautiful 9 year old Toy Poodle who is currently in the care of an Oldies Club foster home in Gillingham, Kent. She’s hoping it won’t be long before she’s offered a permanent home.
Sasha’s foster parents tell us that she’s a very friendly girl and she loves to keep you company on the sofa. She’s quite a sensitive lady, so took a little while to settle in, but she’s now enjoying her walks and is eating well.
Have a look at this
A good house dog: Sasha is good in the house and doesn’t mind being left alone for reasonable periods of time. She’s housetrained and is quiet and well behaved overnight. She likes having visitors and will give them a nice warm welcome.
Good with other dogs: Sasha lives with her foster family’s own dog and they get along fine. She can be a little nervous if there are big and boisterous dogs around her, but generally she’s indifferent to those that she meets out on walks.
Sasha could possibly live with cats: Sasha hasn’t met any cats whilst in Oldies Club care, but she doesn’t seem to have any chase instinct. She may therefore be able to live with cats in her new home, but perhaps you’d like to read our article “Dogs and Cats” for more information on how to introduce them.
Great in the car: In true Princess style Sasha enjoys being chauffered around in the car. She’s happy travelling in a crate, but also likes to be on the back seat where she can see out of the window. She’s used to wearing a safety harness.
Great on walks: Sasha loves her walks and has been on both a normal and flexi lead. She walks very well and doesn’t pull at all. In safe enclosed areas she’s been let off the lead and has proved to have good recall. Sasha prefers shorter walks of up to 20 minutes.
Sasha’s likes: Sasha likes to get plenty of beauty sleep so snoozing on the sofa is a real favourite. She also likes to watch her loyal human subjects carrying out their household duties and when she really feels likes spoiling herself she’ll get one of her humans to give her a light neck and shoulder massage.
Sasha’s dislikes: Sasha doesn’t like her hindquarters being touched and will grumble in protest if you try to move her off the sofa in this way. Her foster family think she’s frightened of being hurt so they avoid doing this and use a slip rope when they need to move her. This is working well and Sasha is showing some improvement as she builds up her trust.
Sasha’s perfect home: Sasha needs a home without young children and would be particularly suitable for someone with poodle experience. She will make a super little companion for an older person or couple and if you’re the lucky one to adopt her, you won’t be disappointed - she will worship the ground you walk on!
Sasha’s health: Sasha is rather overweight at the moment and on the vet’s advice she needs to lose 2kg before she can be spayed. Oldies Club would be willing to pay for this if she is rehomed before then.
Apart from a slight limp due to an old injury as a pup, Sasha has a clean bill of health. She is vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated and her teeth are in good condition. She needs to visit the groomers every couple of months and as she has small ear canals, which is common in Poodles, she needs to have her ears cleaned once a week.
