The Sporting Whippet Club N.I. will be holding their Show & Race days on the following dates this year.

As in previous years all events will take place at Dunsilly Kennels, Milltown Rd, Antrim. More information will be posted on here closer to the time.

All the show/ race days will be on Sundays as usual:

22nd April

27th May

17th June

22nd July

12th August

16th September

At the AGM of The Sporting Whippet Club N.I. it was decided that the date of the first event of 2012 should be put back a week to the last Sunday in April.

 

Therefore the 1st event of the year will now take place on Sunday 29th April 2012.

It looks like there is a clash with the North West Lurcher, Terrier, & Whippet Club show. to be held on 17th June 2012 at Barrontop Fun Farm, Donemana, Strabane, Co Tyrone BT82 OJD

I don't know whether or not it is possible for the sporting whippet club to fix another date in June or for the people in charge of the Barrontop event to move it to the Saturday. Unfortunately I suspect we will just have to chose which event to go to.

The dates for the Sporting Whippet Club were chosen by taking into consideration what dates were already in the calender for KC shows, both mainland UK and NI, IKC shows and then any dates for Game Fairs and Terrier and Lurcher shows in NI that had been published on THL. As far as we were concerned the 17th of June didn't clash with anything, it was only after our dates were published that the apparent clash of dates came to light. There are no other free dates in June for our club.

According to Margaret McStay the date of the NW lurcher and terrier show and races at Donemana has been changed to a week later, 24 June. That would conflict with the kc championship show in Blackpool and the Royal Highland Show (gamefair) in Edinburgh, but I hope it doesn't conflict with any dates in Ireland. Londonderry Canine Association open show is on the Saturday, 23 June.
