No. I have no reason to tbh.

When my son was younger, we used to fly the clip-on Union flags on the car during the Euros or the World Cup.

There's one flying near me, but it has been for nearly a year and isn't offensive in any way.

Lots of mini roundabouts and other road markings local to me have been painted with a Red Cross. The council have to sort them out due to road regs, and it’ll just cost the taxpayer money.

I think it’s one of those ‘just because we can’ things.

I was unable to read the link.

To answer the question, no I haven't seen any.

I’m in the wrong part of the UK but I see the odd Welsh flag flown by households around here (and plenty in a more official capacity) and I don’t see why it should be any different in England. I know the old association there is with the English and Union flags with skinheads or whatever but I think normal English people should be able to reclaim their flag, don’t let them (the far right, or those who say it automatically symbolises the far right) take it from you.
Yeah some of them are acting a bit daft about it but maybe they’re pissed off and we should listen to them.

I saw them on two zebra crossings here this morning. Don’t know how long they’ll stay.

It just costs taxpayers money to get them removed. I don't know why they are suddenly obsessed with the flag - get a life and paint your own house if you are that keen on expressing yourself!

In the Netherlands houses are built with a flag holder outside the front door. Here flags are flown not just for football but on the Kings birthday, on Remembrance day (at half mast) then on liberation day in fully glory. They are flown when children pass their exams with a schoolbag attached, they are flown when a baby is born, normally with a pink or blue nappy or ribbon as well to indicate the babies gender. They are flown to show unity celebration and sadness. Here the right has a hard time 'claiming' the flag because the Dutch people have already fully claimed it. I agree that the English have allowed the wrong people to claim their flag for the wrong reasons for far too long. These days if I see a George cross being flown I have immediate worries .

I think there's something really lovely in that.

Are you seeing them in Cornwall @Sarah k9s? Got to be the tourists in that case, right? lol
Not that I've seen on the news or in person! People are way more likely to graffiti the flag of St Piran and 'Independence for Cornwall' as they want to be seen as an independent nation rather than English anyway (and I don't blame them). I see the odd England flag on people's homes but again you're 100x more likely to see St Piran's flag flying than St George or the Union flag.

I just assume the people spaying it are supporting the Red Roses Rugby team! Come on girls!

Of course, we should be able to fly our flags … just like other countries, but they have been highjacked by RW groups.

This current fervour, isn’t helping, I fear.

That’s what I would have thought.

Meanwhile in Llandudno. Not sure if rage bait or something else lol

Yes we saw some yesterday (monday) and painted on the road too.
Nr Chichester.

Yes loads here in Outer West London. I thought it was about reclaiming our flag from the Far Right like Tommy Robinson but found out on Nextdoor forum there is a demo this afternoon outside a hotel used for asylum seekers . AFAIK the ones here are legal so Its a shame they are doing the demo.
We used to celebrate St Georges day years back but darent now.

The same Tommy Robinson who beats up strangers at stations and tells people that a grandfather taking his grandchildren to the park is a pedo. He is obviously a fine example isn't he?

I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic. Lots of Republic of Ireland, the occasional Union Jack or Maple Leaf, no St George's cross.

Thread hijaack here: what really steams me is the proliferation of the Thin Blue Line flag. For those unfamiliar with it, this is a defaced version of the Stars & Stripes. Black and white has been substituted for the original colors. A thin blue line, symbolizing law enforcement & usually a lighter shade than the original blue of the flag, runs along the center of the stripes. It is commonly flown in support of police officers.

The colors of the US flag have a history and a symbolic meaning. The red symbolizes bravery, valor and self sacrifice; it's a reminder of those who shed their blood to create and defend the country. The white symbolizes purity and innocence; sometimes it gets stretched to including avoidance of foreign entanglements. The deep blue symbolizes justice.

So, if you are into the symbolism of the flag (and why fly it if you aren't?) the Thin Blue Line flag is bad news. The red of valor is gone. The original blue is gone. A small and different kind of blue has been added, substituting the pale blue of policing for the deep blue of true justice. White is the only remaining original color. Instead of the original blue and red we have black, a color reminiscent of crime, villainy, and chaos. To me this flag symbolizes corruption, authoritarianism, and isolationism. Those are not values I want in my police forces. This flag makes my gut churn whenever I see it. I don't oppose policing itself. I'm not a naive youngster that that thinks people will do the right thing if left to their own devices. We need people with the training, muscle, and resources to deal with social deviancy and violence. I'd just much rather see a completely different flag, I dunno, a blue heart surrounded by a laurel wreath or something.

Rant over.

Just a note as well that asylum seekers are legal. They are only 'illegal immigrants' if they are on the run so to speak. The poor people stuck in hotels are very much legal.
I've seen some bad things about the protesters. Not only are they not local, but they are really rowdy, drinking, p!$$ing in people's gardens, and being a hell of a lot more disruptive and detrimental to the area than the immigrants!
