HI everyone,

I want to learn how to stack my Indi and sasha but I feel sometimes you can get better advise from people that do it than from just reading books, so if you could give me some advice and pointers than I would be very grateful :b I do get the general Idea but am a complete beginner.

Im reasonably new to this too - so hope this makes sense. This is how i do it.

1.Have your dog standing the way you want to position him/her.

2.The easiest way i think is to lift up the front of the dog by the brisket and let the two front legs go down into place. If they dont, just move one of them (for me its normally the one furthest away that doesnt always drop into the right place) so move it forward or back, eventually your looking for the front legs to be in line.

3. Once the front ones are in line, stretch out the back legs the one furthest away first (no reason its just what i do) when you are stretching it out make sure its in line with the front one and stretched out far enough so the hock is paralel with the ground. Then the same with the other leg making sure its in line with the other back leg.

Helpful hint - its hard to do this on laminate flooring. Find a not slippy surface to practice setting up your dog or the back legs slide out too far. i.e carpet, rubber mat.

Iv never had to explain this before and i hope other more experienced people will help you out too. :D

Good luck if you decide to show them. :luck: :luck:

Good advise from marier05.

Make sure the dog is stood squarely ie front legs straight underneath, hock to foot straight.

When moving front legs, hold at the elbow, the dog will automatically hold its leg straight. When moving back legs hold at the hock.

Use a mirror so you will see what the judge will see.

Practise this on the table aswell as the floor as when a judge goes over Whippets they are stood on a grooming table.

Look at the 2 pics of marier05, good examples.

Now we need some photos please,if you look at Whippet Showing there plenty of photos to look at how they should be stacked to give you a idea

I think stacking a dog in front of a full length mirror was the best advice ever given to me when I was starting out...it really is priceless as you can see exactly what the dog looks like and what the judge would be seeing as already said above.
