Im posting this on behalf of a work colleagues friend so i dont have much in the way of exact details but in brief...

staffy bitch, light tan 4/5 yr old needs rehoming due to her owners ill health , i believe she lived with old - ish guy and he has had to go into hospital so the dog has gone to stay with his daughter but she cant keep her as she nipped her son apparently..

now im not sure what actually happened but i dont think the dog is used to kids and the child was out with the dog and his mates playing on swings and the dog nipped him when he jumped off swing. Now i presume its a case of the dog was maybe nervous and reacted in this way, or needs socialising properly with kids rather than the case of it being nasty as apparently its a lovely friendly dog in general. Obviously would need expereinced owner and its possible probs investigating more but my work colleague asked me to ask about as the lady wont keep it now its nipped her child and shes contacted RSPCA who said they wont take it and shes best of taking it to vets to be PTS . :(

Oh no, what a sad situation, if the dog isn't used to children it may just have been over excited/playing - staffies can be quite 'nippy' when they play.

Unfortunately rescues are bursting at the seams with staffies/bull breeds at the moment, but it sounds as though the best bet would be to try to find a space with a good rescue who will assess the dog.

Has your friend tried staffy welfare? http://www.sbtse.org.uk/

Otherwise if you let me know whereabouts in the country the dog is I'll see if I can think of anyone local who might be able to help.

Shes in Burton On Trent, I will pass the rescue details on , thanks
