Typically, now that the topic on finding safer ways of stopping dogs at the end of a race has been closed, we've just come across this video of a three dog trial at a lure coursing event in the U.S. using staggered lures (which Garry Comber mentioned).

Is it over a longer distance of course, but all the dogs finish on their feet. Not trying to re-start the debate, just though it might be of interest. :)

Iteresting Video. I think if we started a race (or even a lure course) the way shown in the video, owners would not return for another run.

I've seen lure coursing in the UK and in France but never seen such an unlevel start!

I'm sure in the old days of rag racing the Slipper who let his runner go before the others would have lost his job.

Interesting Video however - thanks for finding it.

How long do you think it will be untill we start to see UK Open and Champ finals on these pages?

Whilst I'm waiting for my non-broadband connection to down load the video -_-

I have just unlocked the previous thread. I can't think why it was closed. Certainly not by me or Nigel. There was nothing at all wrong with it.

I was wondering why it had been closed as well  .......

Thats very interesting watching that Kay  ......Vinnie managed a snatch, grab and a death defying roll every time at his last lure course meeting  ........

Well I had to go to the bank and by the time I got back it had downloaded :sweating:

It looked like a staggered start as well as having staggered lures. The dogs didn't look like they all politely went to a different lure each though, in fact they seemed to be keep switching which lure they were attacking.
