Jasper has started sleeping in my bedroom, which is the only time he's allowed upstairs. We've been carrying him up and down as at 10 weeks he's too young to 'do' stairs but he's a big lad and I'm a small lass wiith a dodgy back, and he's getting bigger by the day...

Should I regard the 'no stairs' rule as an absolute, or will one trip upstairs and one trip downstairs a day be fine if I persuade him to walk sedately (or at least try....)?

Do not allow my pups to go up/down stairs, or jump in/out of cars, they are carried until at LEAST 4-5mths, so easy to damage their growth plates , especially if they come from larger stock (mine do) may I suggest you purchase 'The House Lurcher' by Jackie Drakeford. It really is an excellent book, & am sure will help you alot......

Jasper's going to be a big 'un too so I'll get OH to do the carrying. There's a new edition of The House Lurcher due out in March so I'm hanging on until then.

Hi,

I've always allowed pups to do stairs once they're big enough to step rather than jump up and down. We've got stairs everywhere here in the house and outside.

Don't let them jump in and out of the landy tho' until they are 6 months or so and will help them if they need it after that.
