I would like advice please, on where/how to start showing our fawn whippet. She will be 2 next month. She is KC registered and is a little small although she is filling out now. Is/are there conformation requirements that, if your dog does not conform, then it isn't worth starting?

Many thanks for any advice. Have always had mongrel dogs in the past, first timer at showing dogs.

In the Summer there are lots of Companion Shows, which is a good place to start. Most have 4 Pedigree classes of normally £1 a go and start from 12pm which can be a fun afternoon out. If you like it, then you need to find a local ringcraft training. They should be able to help with many things and depending on their experience give you an idea if your bitch is suitable(forgive me if this sounds harsh). Maybe go to a local show to see what it is like and if you want to follow this route.

Hi Suzycbee , i notice you live in willington which isnt far from me, Im in burton. There are ringcraft classes in Rugeley and also burton kennel ass at stanton villiage hall the 2nd and 4th wed of each month which woul dbe ideal for you to start learning more at. Yes there is a set conformation/movement requirements, this is called a 'breed standard each breed has one. You could get in touch with the kennel club to send you a copy or one of the whippet clubs
