Just found a red lump on one of my mutts elbows...its about 1 inch and looks bit like a strawberry?

I am back at the vets on Monday....for his 2nd jab :- "

Any advice....please.

He has been licking it....as he has a longish coat...I groom him nearly every day and check for lumps and bumps....so I think this has not long appeared :(

Hard to tell without actually seeing it. Let us know what the vet said :luck:

Vet not quite sure what lump is :(

Could be where a tick has been and knocked off leaving head in ....but she couldn't see a black mark .....or it could be where seed head gone in :(

Anyway he has cream and back in 10 days.....if it no better he may have to have it removed....lets hope cream works :- "

At the moment it doesn't look like it has pus in it.....so basically I am going to keep an eye on it.

Sounds as though it could be a Histiocytoma

Usually nothing to worry about, but worth getting it checked by a vet as they can get infected, so it may be best to have it removed.

Yes I was about to say it sounds like Histiocytoma, Stan had one on his nose :( well just behind, eventually it just kind of goes scabby and falls off - no problem.

Don't let the vet remove it and to be honest if your vet didn't recognise it I would be a bit worried. Is it actually on the elbow?

The lump is just above his elbow....sort of at the back.

It looks like it has a dip in the middle of it now.

It also resembles the picture of the hisiocytoma....but not so even or rounded.

Keeping an eye on him....as a recent rescue who came to me in a poorly state...this is bottom of the list of the problems he has had :(

Luckily I am able to talk to my vet and will mention what I have learnt from you both :)

She knows I don't like my dogs to be "mucked" about and I try very hard to avoid any invasive treatment :- "

Lets hope it is a Histiocytoma and it does go away by itself.

All the very best to him. It sounds like he deserves a lucky break.

Owen had one when he was a pup one vet wanted to remove it He said" when we castrate him we'll take it of" .No prizes for guessing what he got told .A friend reccomended her vet he took one look at it and said its a histiocytoma that had been knocked and become infected.

Several courses of antibiotics and 2 months later it had gone just left a scar the size of your little finger nail that no one notices on the inside of his back leg

Only just caught up with this Spry had a histiocytoma last year very strange  lump just appeared and started to grow, we took her to the vets quickly and he removed it straight away(just incase it was sinister) and neatly, it was a bigger scar than I had expected but it was on her knee so he had to make sure he got it all out, she's fine and dandy now

Good luck :luck: :luck: :luck:
