hi all, new to this i have a 4 year old whippet dog. K.C,reg.

he is. BRINDLE WHITE TRIM,

his dad is. CH COBYCO CAVALIER

the breeder was, MRS B J ROBINSON...

there are a lot of CH, in in FIVE GENERATION PEDIGREE CERTIFICATE...

hope that helps...

hi there , welcome to k9 , i too have a cavalier daughter and love the line

what you will find with breeding is most people are in a certain "sphere" , showing / racing etc and tend to choose a stud dog based on a couple of things ie what is that paticular dogs paticular success in its sphere , what are the lines , how are the progeny of that dog doing in its sphere , will it compliment the bitch etc etc

so unfortunatly unless your dog is a very good example and has excelled in whatever it does its unlikely to be chosen at stud because of all the other dogs around .

hope this helps you understand a little more and good luck with your boy

:- " Hi

Is he any good at racing and lure coursing? Does he have stamina, courage, determination, intelligence, enjoy robust good health and is he good tempered? What do you do with him? How tall is he, how heavy? You can tell where my interests lie can't you.

So , we have estabilished he is a` Savillepark` bred dog ,

Have you shown him at all ?

This might all seem very negative to you , but when looking for a stud dog we bitch owners have 100s to chose from  , so we are really picky of who we want to sire our next precious litter ( well I am any how)

There are lots of things we look for.

Not just colour , size :- " shape , breeding , tempratment etc , but will he compliment my bitch :huggles: and does he have the correct attributes that Im looking for .

, and just a question , but why do you want him to be used at stud ? If its his breeding you like there are lots of people with Savillpark in their line ( me for one ) and loads out there with Ch Cobyco Cavilier in too

Hi and welcome to K9 :) ......I have to agree with the above though ......A stud dog is needed to prove himself worthy in his field of choice or at least be a great example of what the breeders looking for before a responsible breeder would even consider him as a suitable choice ...... :)

sureley it goes the other way too.the bitch should have the same attributes as the stud dog .like say putting a champion dog to a moderate club bitch.

Up to a point. People planning to breed buy their bitch as a puppy. Even if she does not become the winner of the year, provided she is a basically nice bitch she can be a good foundation for a new kennel. However, the bitch's owner is in the luxurious position being able to choose the "best" dog for his litter. But the best for one bitch is not necessarily the best for another bitch. :)

I have seen some stunning pups out of very plain bitches when put to the right dog. I have also seen number of very ordinary pups sired by the top dog. :)

No .....You breed on from a bitch to "improve" her weaknesses ......Lines, type, temperament, quality, health, the stud dogs worthiness in his field and conformation takes president over all IMO ..... So a stud dog has to compliment the bitch ......JMHO though .....

Completely agree there

. Thats why we need to have so many dif dogs to chose from , ( of course non of mine have any weaknesses o:) , I wish ;) )

Even by putting a champion bitch to a champion dog does not guarantee super duper pups , unless they compliment each other
