Holly frequently sucks her mat/bedding to get herself off to sleep when she's tired!  Is this normal?

She started doing it when her adult teeth came in and I used to think it was to ease the teething sensation but now its obviously a comfort thing!

She does look incredibly cute while she's doing it as her eyes get heavier and heavier until she finally drops off but I've never seen a dog do this before!

My Whippet Folly, has a lot of soft toys that she plays with but their is one rabbit that she takes to a bed, well ok she's a Whippet so its often the sofa, then holds it in her mouth and falls asleep. She has never actually played with it or chewed it just holds it. All the other toys get rough treatment but rabbit no.

We have a girl who gathers up her bedding, holds it between her paws sometimes makes dough and sucks it like a child would a comforter.

We had her half sister in the past who also did exactly the same thing.

These two girls have different mothers but the same father (who has also been seen doing this).

Thats exactly what Holly does excuseme, with either her blanket or mat, she sort of scrunches up to make a shape she can suck!  Maybe I should ask her breeders if either of her parents do it!

Biker John - Holly is on the sofa too.  We said no dogs on the furniture but that has been an epic fail!   I am hoping Holly will progress to a rabbit once she stops chewing all her toys up!  She's had numerous cuddly toys that have all met a rather sad and chewy end!

We did wonder a while ago if someone had "leaky" knickers because of the wet patches that we would sometimes find on their fleeces and bedding.

But we have since discovered it is one particular little person who sometimes sucks her bedding !    Aah "Bliss"

When Holly started doing it she was still crated and he bedding was so wet that we thought she was having accidents!  We couldn't work out thoug,h how she was managing to go right on the corners of her bed and why it didn't smell!  And then we realised it was just from where she was sucking it!

She still makes her mats nice and wet, lovely when you accidentally step on it with no shoes on!
