If taken for a walk to a beach in hot weather isn't it a risk for the dog to suffer from sun stroke?

Dog can get a sunstroke in very hot weather if kept in the sun for a long time. If the dogs swims he is much less likely to have any problem, so beach would not be the most likely place to get sunstroke.

WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT CAN HAPPEN SUDDENLY,KEEP UR EYE OPEN FOR THE TELL TAIL SIGNS,IVE SEEN IT TWICE WITH WHIPPET AND BOTH TIMES IT HAPPEN QUITE SUDDENLY,AND SHE WASNT RUNNING OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT,SHE WAS UN STEADY ON HER FEET FOR JUST A FEW MOMMENT THEN DOWN SHE WENT,I HAD TO RUN TO THE NEAREST HOUSE AND ASK FOR ABUCKET OF WATER TO THROW ON HER WHICH DID THE TRICK 8)

I regularly take my lot to the beach & have never had any problems.

They run around like idiots, even in the hot weather, but they do love swimming & that cools them off.

I do always take some drinking water ,but it's only rarely they will have some.

I did not say it cannot happen on a beach. However, as sunstroke or heatstroke is basicaly overheating it is less likely if the dog cools down in water. I have never experienced it, but then again i do not walk my dogs in extreme heat, if I go to a show on very hot day i always take ample water for them to drink, and keep my dogs cool by covering them with damp towells. Even at home, on hot days I watch my dogs and if they start looking bit hot I cool them down, like it or not. :) My Bess is one of those who will not walk on wet sand if she can help it!
