I'd really like to go and see this ... I think Johnny Depp is a great character actor and will be brilliant in the role but I'm not keen on gore! :x

I love gore in films lol. I dont mind it and johnny depp is a fitty so i want to see it though its is a 18 :(

I can't see it as i can't take gore in any shape or form :x but i've heard that's it's good if you like musicals as 95% of the dialoge is singing so you have to really concentrate to keep up with what's going on!! :luck:

I'm a big fan of musicals, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton ... the only thing putting me off is how gory it might be :b

Well that's my only problem with it too!!! i can't risk it or i'll never sleep again!!!

Not seen it yet but hoping to next week.

Don't think it's 95% singing - I think it's like it was in Moulin Rouge and 50/50. Looking forward to it either way - Tim Burton is a genius

was reading reviews of it today and most of the critics have panned it.but ill still go watch it cos i love johnny depp and cos i like anything by tim burton.they reckon the singing is pants by the way! :- "

I agree and what do you get when you add Johnny Depp to Tim Burton? Double genius!! I just love Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands - even the Corpse Bride is great! Hope you enjoy the film when you go. :D

I like Tim Burton's work. Must say though that this film does not appeal to me The singing (or lack of) puts me off.. :- " Sorry peeps :sweating:

Have you ever seen Cry Baby? Johnny Depp sings in that but it was a long time ago now.

I thought the reviews were meant to be amazing for it?!

The singing doesn't sound cracking, but not embarrassingly bad either

All time best ever Johnny Depp film I've seen (well I think so anyway) is Benny and Joon - I just love it and watch it any time I need to be cheered up. :D

Oh no, that's really disappointing - I suppose it is appealing to a niche market. Although Moulin Rouge did amazingly well (my fave film) and it wasn't expected to do so. I think as soon as ppl here the word 'Musical' they are put off. I suppose that they are hoping the draw of Johnny will prove too hard to resist

well some of the best films ever have been panned by critics so ive an open mind till i see it. after all critics arent always right.in the advertising i think theyve downplayed the musical bit as they too are thinking it might put the punters off

I actually watched this film yesterday as i found this movie site. I think its illegal but im not sure but watched it anyway and i have no idea why they sentenced it n 18 mark. The only gore is when he slits there throats which is what you see over and over again i thought there would be more. But i think it could have been an 15. But i like all tim burton films because they is so cool and freaky. Like the nightmare before christmas. Mum is scared of that.

But anyways back to sweeny todd the musical is great. Johnny depp isnt to bad a singer and even though he looks scary the way through he is still fit to me :)

:D I saw it last night and it's brilliant. Johnny Depp is amazing as ever and Helena Bonham Carter is absolutely brilliant too. I was lucky enough to see Sweeny Todd on stage years ago so I knew what I was getting in for in terms of the story and music, but I think lots of the people in our packed theatre didn't know it would be so bloody and a musical but the buzz was good so I think they enjoyed it.

It is very, very gory and I had to keep my eyes closed for the throat slitting bits (there are lots :x ) but on the whole it's a fantastic experience so go and see it.
