Well, for the first meeting of 2006 the weather was a bit cold but dry and the ground was just about perfect. There were quite a few non-runners on the race card due to seasons etc. but also a couple of owners had a hard frost where they were so they thought we would have it too and wouldn't be running. Just shows you how localised the conditions can be so its always best to check if in doubt. Quite a few dogs and puppies were trialing and some new people came along to see what it was all about so we had a fairly busy day.

Racing was over 150 yards at 1/2 a yard per lb. Puppies and Veterans received an allowance as usual.

The Blue Lady Shield

Heats : Talk Of The Devil & Conway Flyer

Main Final

1. Elaine & John Pollards Sonny Jim (WCRCh Elovado x Tilly)

2. Talk Of The Devil

3. Conway Flyer

4. Jolly Jack Flash

The Citizens Trophy

Heats : Time & Chaos & Conway Celt

Main Final

1. Dave & Lynne Thomas's Conway Celt (WCRCh Celtic Flite x Conway Lady)

2. Happy Days

3. Double Time

4. Time & Chaos

Consolation Final

1. Sheila Gould's Apache Jack Flash (WCRCh Flash Bang Wallop x Apache Star)

Next week racing is for the Spring Handicap Trophy and the Junior Racers trophy. Let me know if you are coming for trials or racing please.

Oh yes congrats to Sonny jim aswell ..........Also Little Penny (glad I've booked one out of the mutant lol ;) :nuke: :* :huggles: )

It was a really good day  , thank you to everyone who have made me and Tilly and Bean feel so welcome and who have helped me with Tilly getting her racing...

So glad she is coming on so well  and hopefully should have her cleared soon, she raced so well with that other dog (sorry for got his name but he belongs to Shelia :huggles: )

I still have no idea what im doing  , but im getting there.... :teehee:

Big hug to everyone :huggles:

Kim and Tilly and Bean

I've got them down to run Hannah

Hi Kim - Tilly was brilliant. For those that don't know, she had her first ever run with another dog and was just sooooo good that I am sure she will be cleared to race in no time. That other dog was Sheila Gould's Spike AKA Apache Jack Flash. Bean is really gorgeous by the way. Soooo cute and bold too.

We also had Loise and Simon turn up for the first time with their 10 month old Daisy. Daisy had never been near a track before and although she was very tentative to begin with she had completely changed by the end of the day and was really enjoying herself chasing the lure.

Was sorry I missed the first day back, but I will be there next week. Please put Ozzie and Boss in for racing, and Jools for trialling. It is about time the old boy came out of retirement.

Hopefully Yvonne will be there too with little Carrie, but I fear she is a little too young to trial !

A nice day all round and the ground was just perfect.

Well done to the winners; there was some great racing between Talk of the Devil and Sonny Jim who switched round in terms of places between the heat and the final, congrats to John and Elaine and well done to Jane for her persistance with Arrow - the boy really has come good.

Nice to meet Louise and Simon with Daisy and well done Kim - Tilly is coming on a treat.

Poor old Geoff didn't get a chance to have a coffee until just before we left so special mention to him (& Rob on the bike) for their efforts.

I am looking forward to perhaps having a dog to race ..... one of these days......

Just trials for us again next week Judy please (Tyler & Merlin)

P.S Thanks to Steve for noticing the problem with Ross :D Much appreciated

We are hoping to come along soon. Sadly, we are blighted with injuries to both boys. Hopefully, Fynn will bounce back from his ankle injury at SC yesterday. I am hoping it is just a bruise, but keeping him under wraps for a weeks or so until I am 100% sure. He wasn't his usual self in his second run and I noticed him not fully weight bearing on his front leg. He also swelled up somewhat. We took advice from the experts and dashed home for ice packs, Arnica and heat, and it is looking less balloonish today. For those who don't know, Archie has a residual dry joint problem following a toe dislocation. We are treating that with allsorts prescribed by Simon Gower. It never rains.............................................

Hey, we know the feeling Jo, but chin up, will hopefully be no more than some soft tissue damage with Fynn and he will be back up and flying soon. (fingers crossed :luck: )

It's a real worry with them, worse than flipping kids (w00t)

I'm sure all wil be fine in the end  With yours and ours too x

:)) Hi Jo, it's Smiffy here, sorry to hear your youngster has picked up an injury, can I come with you when you go to see Simon, pleaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, have you thought of having it checked out by a pro, after all, it's a racing injury and one can never be too careful with those, particularly as you are talking in terms of one week off, any my vet gives me 6, 12, 16 weeks off etc!! :- "

Thanks for your concern Carmel

Oh (w00t) Joanna - I so know what you mean

Don't we just!! Best of luck with him Jo. All ours (well it's only 3 now the other two are retired) are all fit and raring to go. Slightly worried re Sweep and his toes - nothing changes there then!!!!

Judy can you book Mighty Mouse, Moondust, and Dangermouse ( 8) in for racing- ta.

I add my congrats to Jane and Arrow, Squizzlers (as I call them) with Sonny Jim, and also the gorgeous Tilly on racing with another dog - she'll be cleared in no time. Not forgetting dear Penny - still running well - must be all that Welsh air!!!!! :p  :- "

Just had to edit this - after I typed Dangermouse above I typed 8 in brackets, meaning she's 8 years old, and it's come out as a smilie with sunglasses! - I wasn't suggesting that Mouse is cool - but of course she is!!

Hey, we're at Simon's next Monday too - we should all meet up and have lunch LoL :D

Glad that you are planning to make it Mrs J - are you sure that it won't be too cold/wet/early for you - tis still february  Looking forward to seeing you and the old man :huggles:

Rob says "Have you got divorced yet????"

We haven't been racing yet Darc, as we're saving up for your wedding present - has Rob named the day yet? - or perhaps the year! :- "

We keep recommending married life to him, but you can't educate pork!

If he gives us any trouble this weekend, we're going to let his tyres down on his bike

And if he doesn't give us any trouble, we might let his tyres down anyway  :teehee:

:huggles: Love him really!

Just thinking - I might tread on Sweep's toe, so we can come and see Simon, and have lunch!

I just can't understand why Simon is so popular, even my 63 year old father was impressed. He asked if he could have the same treatment as Archie on his frozen shoulder. He wants me to inject him with Calcitrophen and rub in bone radiol...........Sod that, I am not injecting any-thing in Dad's scruff. Simon seems to be a man of the people  (Aswell as very handsome, fit, dog loving, AND DIVORCED)..........Yes folks, I am a nosey cow and no, I didn't force the info out of him......................Extra mascara and lippy next week...............Sheeeeeeeet, hope Lloydy doesn't read this :p

Visited Simon today and finally some good news - Fletch is ready to start trialling again :D

Many MANY thanks to June, Steve and Sweep for helping us out on Sunday - MUCH appreciated

Had a nice day despite the dodgy weather - nice to see Tilly improving further and Daisy continuing to find her feet. Some good looking puppies coming along (as in fast as well as nice looking LoL) - will be interesting to see what the new season brings.

Put us down for next week Judy please. Tyler IN THE RACING OMG! and possibly Merl too and Fletch for a hand slip - Cheers
