Hi Everyone! I have permission from the mod to create a thread for our cat lover members.

I've always had multiple cats, but since Mazy cat left us 3 1/2 years ago it's been just me and Queen Eva. Queen Eva is 15, and has always been the Baby of the family, bottom cat in the rank, but now she's the Only. I think she would have liked another cat around, but she takes loss so hard, I decided not to risk it. I'm older too, almost 65, so would only get another oldie, and can't take the chance that Queen Eva would get attached and have to say good bye yet again.

Anyway, I'm retired now and Queen Eva and I are living the dream! She has recently become addicted to a FB site called Critter Cam and in order to save my computer (and my sanity) I had to rig a cover for the laptop keyboard while she indulges her fascination. I only allow a few minutes at a time, not only because the computer gets hot under the keyboard cover, but because I don't want her staring at a screen for too long.

It's kind of funny because she spends a lot of time looking out her windows, and looking at the yard when we are out on the porch, but she never shows any interest in the birds or critters in real life, only on the critter cam. She especially likes the chipmunks. Hope to see a lot more cats here

She doesn't wear the harness on the porch anymore, I just used it initially for training, so she wouldn't door dash. Meaning, she learned that putting the harness on meant going out on the porch. Not wearing the harness meant stay away from the door when I am going in or out. It didn't take her long.

I’m missing having a feline buddy atm

Probably due to all the cute cats posted on Instagram.

The ones that get me are the cuddly, “loves” and headbutts ones 😜

It took a long time to get used to only one cat. I've always had at least two, and usually three or four, but after I turned a certain age I stopped getting any new cats. I had three when I rescued Queen Eva as a tiny almost dead from fleas kitten in a hoarding situation, in 2010 and she is the last. When she leaves me (may it be a very long time) I will adopt only seniors or cats in hospice need situations. Probably only one at a time, since I am getting up there in age myself.

Queen Eva is Her Own Self, and there are catly behaviors I am missing now, that she doesn't bother with. One of them is head bumps. Also she isn't a kissy cat, but I've been making some progress with that recently, much to my surprise. She is now actually allowing me to drop a kiss on her head without her punching me in the face lol, but it has taken a couple of years for us to get to that point.
