As I type this, my dog is busy having a dream on the bed next to my feet. I don't think I'll ever tire of hearing those cute little 'sleep barks' she does! Am I the only one who imagines their dog is dreaming of chasing something that, in real life, she'd cower and run a mile from? Big and brave, in her dreams at least!

Nope you're not alone. We call it chasing bunnies.

The spooky one is occasionally one of mine will howl one of those low mournful wolf howls in their sleep. It's spooky waking up to that in the dark of night

And now, by magic, the alarm clock in here head has clearly gone off and she's hassling for her evening food.

With GSDs you get the dreaming and twitching, but you don't normally get the sleep barks- GSDs tend to do more chuntering and harrumphing, with a few whines and groans thrown in :)

This one's alarm clock is so good that if either of us get up out of our chairs past 11.30pm she takes it as permission to take herself off upstairs to bed :D

LOL! Ours is starting to do that now too - but without us even standing up. It gets to a point in the evening (around the time you mention) and she just wonders off to her bed in the kitchen where the lights are normally off. It's as if she's saying to us "Right you lot, bed time, come on - I'll lead by example!"

my saluki x just yapps but the whip x yapps legs going ten to a dozen and very funny growls with intent lol

Mine all sleep run but only 2 make noises, the shaggy lurcher tends to yip and growl a lot, the little Heinz dog makes the most noises, she yips, whines, and howls sometimes...but then she makes a lot of different noises when awake as well.

The saddest thing that I have noticed is that when I first had them as rescue dogs most of mine howled in their sleep and that tends to happen for a good few months, you can also tell that they have nightmares, I always feel really sad for them when that happens, of course once they wake up they are happy happy again :)

My dog barks whines in her sleep, and suckles too, I have a video of it, I should upload it. It's so funny. :p she's GSD x Rottweiler :p

One of mine sounds like she's suckllng too (the vocal one), she actually looks a lot like your pup but is no bigger than staffy size :)

Brude suckled in his sleep as a pup, but grew out of it... until his spinal op. He would cry in his sleep for weeks afterwards. He had to sleep on our bed as his paralysis meant he couldn't move himself if necessary, and I'd have to shift him. Eventually the crying gave way to suckling again, which was a blessed relief. He's now 11 years old and still suckles occasionally

Sometimes he gets very brave in his sleep and you can tell he's seeing off something he disapproves of rather strongly!
