Ok heres a topic for you - can you remember the fIrst time you saw, met or held an IG. I only start this as my parents also have an IG and my mum is currently having pysio at home and she tends to get a few different physios coming into the house. The reacion of them when Adonis apprears to greet them at the top of the stairs is just priceless, they are amazed and spellbound by him and their first words are always " look at that dog what is it" - and it just reminds me of the very first time I met one, how I immedialty fell in love with the breed (I had been researching for years and considering from a distance) and how that enccounter has led me to where I am today the proud owner of my precious babies.

What a great topic Liza!!!! First time i ever met an IG must of been about 32 years ago!! At the time we lived alongside Richmond Park & used to walk our 2 whippets there every day. One day whilst walking through the woods we saw a very elderly gentleman approaching with what looked like a tiny little fawn bambi.

To our delight this tiny creature ran towards us & wanted to play with our whippets. I was totally mesmerised, i had only ever seen photos of igs in books & this little chap was so tiny. Bear in mind this was 32 years ago & our whippets were proper whippets & probably not much bigger than some of todays igs! This little chap was maybe 12" tall & like a finely sculptured porcelain statue.

We chatted to the owner & was told his name was Horatio & he had been bred by a lady in sussex called Rae. Of course at the time this meant nothing to us but i could not get this amazing creature out of my mind & a few years later we bought our first IG, it was only after owning her for a while & beginning to show her that i then realised that little Horatio had been bred by the famous Rae Lewis who bred all the beautiful Philtre Italian Greyhounds.

Where ever you see them they always leave a lasting impression

I must have first seen them at a show, else I'd remember better, but there was one since we met on a walk on the outskirts of Sheffield. Absolutely stunning silver colour, and went like a rocket! About the same size as my beagle, who (having been created to be followed by a human on foot) is much slower, was rather grumpy about being outrun so consistently!

I can remember quite clearly. In was in Grange over Sands. A tiny little rescue one snuggled up in his coat on such a cold day. Lovely little lad. Would have quite happily brought him home with me :D
