I might be wrong. If I am I apologise. Did Bish Bash Bosh beat nothing into the final and in the final, have nothing to beat therefore becoming a half coat or in fact a champion. If that is so then where is the prestige in all of this? Surely, to be a winner, you must have something to beat?? If you haven't beaten anything then you cannot be a winner. If, in a weight group there is only one entry then argueably the contest should be declared null and void as there clearly has not been a contest. For a winner to be established there does need to have been a contest. one dog against another at the very least. Or am I wrong?

I think what you will find Chriss that this has happened at Wcra Champs as well we all enter our dogs and when the day comes you race against who ever has entered if someone is lucky and not many have entered in their Group then that is the luck of the draw. But it should not deminish the event nor should anyone who has not entered feel that the dog is not entitled to its win because it is.

As i say it has happened many times at Wcra Champs throughout the years so is not something that is unusual.

Also i hate to say it but a lot of dogs cannot get the experience of bend racing any more and therefore in the interest of safety they do not enter their dogs in case they injure themselves or any other dogs and i think they are right to do so.

But as i said already you can only race against those who have entered all i have left to say is well done to all the runners finalists and winners sorry we could not have been there but it was just to far for us

Chris: this is the elephant in the room that no one speaks about. However, now you have pointed it out we can all see it!

As Derek has said, it has always been like this, and of course it IS ludicrous that a covetted title can be handed out just for turning up, rather than actually beating another runner. But how disappointing would it be to turn up, only to find you would not run because your dog had no opponents?

In my own opinion, I think that one possible solution would be to move a solo entry up to the next group (not in the case of the heaviest group obviously) if the higher group can accomodate another runner. Certainly, for myself I'd rather see my dog compete, even at a slight disadvantage, than just run round on its own.

Titles have become a little devalued now anyway, with the splitting of our sport, they surely don't need further devaluation?

Excellent photos yet again, Alan  Thank you!

Well Done to all the winners and finalists :D

Extra special Well Done to Shropshire Lass and Shropshire Joc-key  Chris knows that Amber isn't the fastest dog on the track but she had the stamina to run four races and win the final :))

Congratulations to all winners & finalists

Massive congrats to Chris with Amber (Shropshire Lass) & Percy (Shropshire Joc-key) Doing the double act! We are so chuffed for you Chris

Also Jacquie's little Ayda coming 2nd in the 18lb group

Massive congratulations also to Rob & Naomi with Richie ( Mr Brightside) gaining his half coat & Darcie ( Mistify Me) just being pipped to 2nd place in the 20lb final

Always new Richie could do it if he had the right head on

congrats to all the winners, but i do think this brings up location, location, location,.a central venue more accessiable to all of us would have produced a far bigger enrty and needs to be sorted asap
