...... a beautiful purple bandage!

P1010022.JPG

Tiny has torn part of his pad off, and badly grazed the one on the other leg running on a tennis court - he stopped very suddenly.

Off we dashed to the vet trailing blood! It's all been beautifully bandaged (although Tiny is doing his best to get it off!) and I've got to change the bandage every day.

He was such a brave little soldier and didn't complain at all, even when I bandaged it up initially - not a murmur! :huggles:

(The dog ahead of us was being pts and I think they were freezing it because the crematorium isn't open until Tuesday! That was a bit icky....)

Aw poor Tiny! :* :* :* Freddie sends him his special extra strength winkle licks!

Well, I've managed to change the bandage!! It only took me three attempts, it's a bit icky and still oozing a bit :x - but clean.

Tiny was a star patient and just stood there like a brave little trooper - eating toast crusts. :huggles:

Poor Tiny in the wars again

William says I had a bandage too a white one on my tail it last a whole 10 seconds before I took it of mummy was very cross cus I was clean for a show  not just any show it was 2 days before Crufts and I'd turned myself red :- "

:huggles: for Tiny get well soon

Well, the bandage has gone now, it's come off. I've called their baby sitter to see if she can do it any better (I know, I'm totally pathetic!!) :- "

Hi Claire,

have you got any wound powder, we put this on our dogs when they do there stoppers, it drys it up really well.

Yes, I have got some wound powder. I'm going to give that a go.

I've given up on the bandage idea, it's a clean wound and nothing hanging off so I think it's better left to the air cos he just keeps pulling the bandage off.

The only thing is, he keeps licking both wounds and I don't want them to start bleeding again.

Ours pull the bandages off so its pointless keep putting them on, put some wound powder on then it should dry it up, ours dont lick it off either, hope Tiny"s the same. :luck:

Okay this probably sounds really thick - but is the stopper the pad furrther up the leg? If so that's the one he's sliced and diced!

Yes i call it the stopper as when ours are racing normally in dry conditions, when they slide in hard at the end of the race there legs slide along the ground and they end up bleeding lots of people tape them up when there running but ours dont like the tape on and normally pull it off before they get to the traps, so its normally soak it in vaseline and hope it dosent get cut up.

Yup, that's what he did - slid across a tennis court!

Hmmm, it was rather icky, although it's looking much better and not nearly so raw. The good thing (if you can call it that) is there is nothing hanging off, there's not much pad left but it is very clean. (Well he always wees on that leg so it is constantly being washed in salt water!!! :- " )

If he's going to hurt himself, he certainly does it well! :huggles:

We always cut stray bits off with scissors, you"ll be surprised how quick it heals.

Update on the legs!

They are looking loads better this morning :) - drying out nicely, they still look very sore though, and Tiny is feeling a bit sorry for himself still and clinging to me more than usual.

He was very happy last night because the OH is away so he got more space in the bed -_- - although he was still attached to my leg - I think there's a bit of invisible velco that sticks us together.

We had an adventure in the middle of the night when Sasha (one of my cats) brought in a very large, live mouse! Max, Tiny and I went to see what the racket was, I grabbed Sasha to make her dropped the moue - which she did - right on my foot. I sent the boys in to flush it out so I could catch it, but they were more interested in the carrots on the veg rack

So, no mouse, it is still lurking somewhere in the house I think!!

Well, Tiny has gone and done it again!!!

Max jumped on him on Wednesday and knocked him flat, Tiny screamed like I have never heard before. I honestly thought he was dying!! Anyway, I thought he was overreacting a bit and that he was fine!!

 How wrong was I? VERY! The next day he had two complete sets of claw marks raked down his side which had come up as blood blisters - not too bad I thought, keep an eye on it and see. On Friday, his whole side had filled up with blood and he had turned into one giant bruise! Trundled off to the vet again and was told it would look worse as the blood spread about and reabsorbed.

Well, it is hideous now, :x he doesn't look like a football anymore, but the bruising goes from half way down his left side, all the way under his tummy and out the other side and from his front leg to almost his hip.

The poor baby has been in so much pain, and he didn't speak to Max for 3 days. They are speaking now, but Tiny doesn't want to play Max's rough games anymore (all this from Max who 11 months ago had no idea how to play!).

He is much perkier now, although he is still sleeping 12 hours a night (most unusual for him) and he is ultra clingy now.

On the plus side - his pads are looking a lot better, nicely scabbed over now!
