This post is for Shaz mainly, but if any-one has a photo of the main man, I'd love to see it.

Fynn weighed in at 9.5lbs at 12 weeks old yesterday. BeeJay has told me about the theory of double it and add a pound for the final weight. This would make Fynn a 20 lb adult, (quite different to my 36lb thug (w00t) ). Sox, Fynn's mum is a small girly, but I would love to know how heavy The Real McCoy is and see a picture of dad. It would give me a clue as to what my little man is going to be like!

Thanks in advance.

Jo

I might be wrong but im pretty sure its at 13wks that you double there weight and then you give or take a pound, for example my puppy at 13wks weighed 12 3/4 lbs and he now weighs 25 1/2 lb (hope im right)

I am probably wrong. I am about most things so no reason that I shouldn't be wrong about this as well. I think that Judy and June J posted about this on here somewhere. If they don't see this then pm them and they'll tell you.

I'd go with Beejay's theory - worked out for elz anyway

I've always gone with double the wieght at 12 weeks and add 1lb for dogs and take one for bitches or double it at 13 weeks (for dogs - not sure about bitches). It seems to give a pretty good ball park figure for 90% of whippets puppies. I'm not so good on bitches though as we have always had dogs. This theory won me a bottle of brandy once :D

Have to admit that although its worked for all of our other dogs, Kaos should have been around 26lb going on this theory and he is already 28lb at 6 1/2 months. :b

Cor, he's a whopper then Judy (careful or he'll end up in the outsize club at South Cots (w00t) )

Does any-one know the weight of The Real McCoy?

We use simlar for bitch's Judy.

weight at 12 weeks double it then allow 1lb either was (ie: 12lb at 12 wk = 23/25lb)

I think he was very, very early 20's ......and i've been told that Julia's Lottie look's just like her dad :)

What age is a whippet fully grown?

I think that the final growth plate's finish at around 14 month's old, but my personal view is that a Whippet will be poperly grown, bodied, muscled and mature at coming up 2 year's old :) .....but as I said this is just my opinion :D

I seem to remember The Real McCoy was about 23/24lbs. Maybe Shaz will confirm this?

I don't think Kaos will be more than about 29/30lb Joanna. He is pretty fat now and although he will probably put on another 3 pounds or so he will then have to lose some to be fit.

Right, thanks Hannah. So anything younger than that and they could still grow? Or is height pretty much settled by the end of the first year?

I personally think that even at a year there is still some more height and weight to be gained by most Whippet's .....Though height wise we are only talking a tad more after the first year  .....Weight wise ....ALL of my lot have put on around a pound as they bodied up after their first year .....hope this help's :D

Alfie is coming up to two years and I still don't think he's 'filled' out yet... but then he could just be a weed?
