The Rising Sun AGM & presentation will be held alongside the North East AGM & presentation on Sunday 4th Feb 2007 in The Barking Dog pub straight after racing. If racing is cancelled the AGM will still go ahead @ 1pm. So if theres anything you would like to see or discuss @ either AGM have a think about it now and bring it up @ the meeting. The Rising Sun commitee are happy to continue doing the job if everyone wants that but if anyone else wants to put themselves forward for any postion then please do so. I personally ( Carole) wont be doing a Wednesday night this year as I work and its too much of a rush for me. Joyce is willing to do it if she can but if anyone else wants to do it then something can be sorted out for you.

Your subs are now due £3.00 payable to Joyce Thoburn ( treasurer) you can pay her at the meeting. When paying your subs you will be given a list of Rising Sun rules which have been devised by the Rising Sun commitee for the welfare of your whippets.

The North East top dogs are as follows ( if my memory serves me correctly lol)

top bitch joint 1st is VIARITA & CASANN

top dog is JACKIE K with macspot in 2nd place

top 36lb is SHOWBOAT

top 40lb is BUD ( i think)

top no limit is tied 3 ways WHISPER WHIZZ, THE SHADOW AND JOHN DOE.

Today we held our AGM alongside the rising sun presentation.

Discussed @ the AGM

Firstly the commitee will be going up from 3 commitee members to 7 so the commitee is now:

secretary - carole craigie ( as it was)

chairman- peter marley ( as it was)

treasurer-joyce thoburn ( as it was )

new commitee members:

official handicapper & judge & worker -pat jobson

official lure driver & worker- nick jobson

official trap man & worker - jeff hunter

official worker as & where needed-moira patterson

no objections were raised @ the time to any of the above.

wednesday nights

joyce thoburn is willing to do them if she can and if she can have some help, davey elliot said he can make it every week, peter marley will be able to go once a fortnight, wed will be on if possible throughout the summer for trialling/pup training etc.

yards for pounds racing is now on if required. The yards for pound racers have opted for a 24lb limit.

no objections were raised @ the time to the above.

scratch racing will be available if required each week, this will be raced last after the whole handicap has finished this enables any dog to still race in the h/cap then also in the scratch if they want to.

The commitee asked the members if they wanted to donate trophies for our own open the barking dog as it wud be nice with it being our own open if the main categories won one. The exisiting ones for top dog/top bitch remain. carole & peter will donate the mickey whizz trophy for the no limit, joyce thoburn will donate the challenger trophy for the 40lb , chris & rob offered to donate the puppy trophy, pat & nick offered to donate the yearling trophy and joe balmer offered to donate the veteran trophy.

top dog was JAY B JAY recieving £10.00, a trophy and a framed certificate.

runner up was HAWKWIND recieving £5.00 and a framed certificate both dogs belong to alan.

joint 3rd was peters WHISPER WHIZZ and Jimmys JACKSON both dogs recieved £2.50 and a framed certificate.

top bitch DAZZLYN SUNRISE receiving £10.00, a trophy and a franed certificate, belonging to arthur.

runner up belonging to jimmy was JESSIE winning £5.00 and a framed certificate.

3rd place went to russells SEPTEMBER LASS winning £5.00 and a framed certificate.

14th april harry seymour 150yds @2ft per 1lb usual weight classes up to 20lb, 24lb, 28lb and 32lb. 36lb sc 40lb sc and no limit sc. all over 150yds.pups/vets/yearlings same weight classes.

14th july brandy queen 165yds @ 1 yd per 1lb usual weight classes up to 20lb, 24lb, 28lb and 32lb. 36lb sc, 40lb sc and no limit sc over 165yds. pups/yearlings/vets same weight classes but over 150yds.

erica did ask for more people to donate raffle prizes as @ the moment its the same people almost every time.

oops almost forgot the barking dog ( rising suns own open) will remain the same format as last year.

up to 20lb, 25lb, 30lb and 35lb over 150yds pups/yearling/vets same weight classes/distance, 40lb and no limit scratch over 175yds ( possibly changed from last year) trophies for overall dog, overall bitch, no limit, 40lb, overall veteran, overall yearling and overall puppy.
