I have a problem with Bean, not a big problem but enough to get on my nerves a bit.....

She drinks loads and pees loads..... if i put her out she will go and have a wee, then if she comes in she will have a wee, even if i have left her outside for ages..

She pees everywhere, kitchen, hall, any where she fancys, which is a bit of a pain..

She is crated with Tilly when i am at work, which is about 4 hours now they have changed my shifts (not idea i know, but this will change in the new house as we are having kennels built outside) But she never wees then (she used to wee in her crate, but stopped)

We are moving on Friday and the new house has laninete and tiles down stairs so its no big deal wiping it up,

I guess its back to basics. advice welcome......

Hi, if she is drinking loads, it might be an idea to take a sample of wee to the vet just in case she has a urine infection. If she doesn't, i'd go back to putting her out every 15 mins or so and praising her when she goes. I think most pups do this just when we think we can trust them, Lily had a slight relapse a while back. I just went back to basics for a couple of days and she is fine again. Good luck with the move. If you are packing up the house, she could be a bit anxious and that might not be helping. I'm sure she will settle down again soon.

Thanks, next week when we are in our new place i will pop a sample to the vets...

With regards to moving Tilly is really worried she keeps looking at me, like when am i packing her into a box, shes following me everywhere.

Kane drinks loads too and has the odd pee, mostly outside but if you don't get there when he does oops , I think it's just because they are puppies I have found that all mine when puppies although they will go outside for toilet would pee inside if they thought they could do it without getting caught(after all it's cold outside  ) but they've all grown out of it

i guess i should have said its not just wee's its poo as well, she is good in the morning running out as soon as i open the door.

and then she comes in and wees on the floor, or like she did this morning wee'd and poo'd outside and then came in and poo'd

I just dont get it,

I wouldn't fret too much. Just carry on being consistent with what you do. It might be "second pup syndrome". Lola drove me crazy doing exactly what you've described - outside for ages... come in and wee or poo  After quick-on-the-uptake Josie I thought Lola might be a bit of a retard :b but she suddenly sorted herself out at Christmas time (she was coming up for 7 months).

Bean is so young and has lots of learning to do, I wouldn't let it worry you too much, Kim, just stick with it. And moving is bound to be a bit stressful. Good luck for Friday :luck:

edited to say: when it was going on, I also restricted her access so that if she did it, she could only do it in the kitchen, dining room or hall - all other rooms were closed off!

Aah, poor Bean, she's only a baby still :huggles: , she get the hang of it in the end. Max and Tiny still have accidents and Tiny does protest wees sometimes if he doesn't get his own way. (w00t)

Paris is going through his second wee phase at the moment as well, just when you thought they were ok to be left alone for 5 mins

It sounds like Lola is a normal whippet when it comes to toilet training and Josie was an exceptional case (from my own experience). :b

Its doesnt sound like shes doing it intentionally to be naughtey so i wouldnt get mad at her , If shes going outside then coming back in and weeing then id say she just doesnt know shes meant to toilet outside!

Id say , like everyone else, go back to basics.

Keeping your eye on her to try and tell when she wants to go ( mine always are restless when need toilet, trotting back and forth), then let her out and atchully watch to see if she goes...i always say something like 'wee wee' or 'hurry up' ... :b then give her plenty of praise when she goes! :D

I had exactly the same with Merlin, just be patient, and carry on doing what your doing, she will get there in the end  :luck:

I dont ever tell her off, just go round and wipe or pick it up....

lots of prase given when she wee's outside or when out for a walk.

I think i will just have to watch and see when she is about to go and put her outside brrrrrrr

another thing I did was put Lola out every hour religiously

I have been told, and it seems to make sense, that pups do not have proper control of their bladders until they are six months old. You therefore do what you can with training until this time but you're lucky really if you have a totally clean pup before this age. :) Bean is even younger than Logan and he is the same so until they reach the magic 6 months, when hopefully the weather will be warmer as well, there's not a lot we can expect from them! (w00t)

Oliver was an autumn pup and a complete nightmare to housetrain! Albie was a spring pup and really trained himself, although he still thinks nothing of weeing in the house if he feels he needs to! :- "

I always let them out first thing in morn and last thing at night too so they get to know the routine!

Good luck Kim, im sure Bean will get the hang of it soon. Do you stand outside with her and make sure she she does her poo before she comes in? As soon as she does it, praise her loads and give her a treat. Sometimes, especially if it's cold, they will just stand by the back door and not go. If you see that shes done one, she shouldn't have any left to do in the house when she comes in! Chloe is 2 1/2 and i still have to make sure she does her poo at night and occassionally she will do a poo in the kitchen over night (happened last week). This always seems to happen following a rainy evening!! I really can't believe she still does it sometimes and i know it's down to pure laziness that she doesn't want to be outside at night when the weathers bad. On the other hand, Frankie has only had one accident in the house since he arrived. :luck:

I wont feel to bad then, tilly was a summer pup and cause the doors were open all the time, we had no problems....

Poor bean, born in the winter means all the doors are shut :(

Having had a summer pup and a winter one, I can say the summer one seemed easier and better even though he wasn't. You must go outside with Bean and jump up and down and squeal with excitement when she does a pee or poo outside. They love the praise. I also used to treat Archie every-time he went outside (he was the winter one). Do do it hourly though and after meals or waking up. THEY WILL GO BACKWARDS FROM TIME TO TIME. It isn't your fault if this happens, just take a step backwards. As for drinking loads, do you feed dry food? This will make her thirsty, even littl biscuit treats will make her drink loads. :luck:

Dolly was amazingly easy :) - we only had about 6 accidents indoors. I did use a crate and she has never 'gone' in her crate. I took her out regularly, and particularly after meals and on waking up. It was Spring/Summer so that made it easier and I was at home all the time so that helped as well. Loads of praise is really important as others have already said. :huggles: I think it's important to go outside with them so the praise can be given immediately and you also know that they have 'been'. (Bean has been!!!  - oops sorry about the pun).

Good luck - I'm sure it won't take long. :luck: :luck:
