It's been so dry here, during the growing season, that a local sunflower maze, has said it's only for people under 5ft 3inches 🤣
Woo hoo, I get to go in 🤣 I also found that I'm the only adult in the extended family allowed to go on my granddaughters' new swing set :)

My garden looked lovely in June. Now it's yellow and frazzled.

We've got the smoke from the Canada wildfires here just now, so what would have been a beautiful summer day is hazy, smoky and orange outside. I'm all shut u inside, I can't tolerate the smoke.

Looks like I won't be hiking mowing or yard work today either. Yesterday the air quality went up into the red, which is dangerous for everyone. This morning, at only 8 a.m., it's already borderline at AQI 150, dangerous for "sensitive groups", but one more number and it's back in the red. I fall under the heading of "sensitive" as the smoke makes me really ill. Sunday and Monday I was still resting from my day trip on Saturday but this morning I'm chomping at the bit want to get out and do stuff. But have to stay inside with my house all battened down.

At least I don't actually live where the wildfires are. It must be terrible to be close to them. We just get a lid of smoke that kind of settles over the area for a few days. Orange air, orange sun, orange moon. No ash or anything like that thankfully. And it's not that I ever have a problem entertaining myself inside, I don't. But still, I wanted to play in my yard today.

We were lucky with the storm. it more or less passed us by and we had a little rain.
Today is windy again ! The trees are bowing over. It's bizarre all these windy days in August.
very where is still very dry and no rain forecast and another heatwave next week. :(

Getting warm again. I've got a tiny piece of garden, just by my back door that is in full sun and has been bare for very long time. I thought I'd try a few sun worshiping annuals. Didn't hold out much hope, but look.................I've hardly ever watered them after they'd established

A beautiful sunny day for us today. Had a super walk with Luna and got chatting with someone living in a house round the corner about holidays. We had both been to Tenerife so had a good gossip and shared some other holiday recommendations. Luna loved the extra strokes and cuddles!

Last night I just felt desperate for some outside air. The haze was thick all day, no sun to be seen, just his heavy cover with billows of smoke under the trees in the distance. At night the PM2.5 had dropped to 97 and the smell wasn't quite as bad so I went out to walk in my yard and watch the moon rise. The moon was a lurid orange and stayed that way even after rising high in the sky. Eventually the haze filled in again and I could see nothing and had to go back inside but it was nice to be out hearing the insect sounds and the tree frogs for a few minutes anyway. Today it's back up in the 120s and supposed to get worse before it all finally goes away tomorrow.

I heard on the radio yesterday that we will see some of the effects of the smoke in our atmosphere here too.
