We decided (woman of the house) that the Whuppies needed more space in 'their utility room'

The freezer, emptied was duly defrosted and dispatched to its new home in the garage much to the disgust of those who like easy access to ice creams, pitza, ice cubes for their G&T and other goodies kept therein.

The site manager (woman of the house) then directed operations. Smooth white melamine boards were used to line the sleeping area to help keep out cold and draughts. A pale grey carpet added to keep off the chill of the stone floor and then of course the 'padding'

This new arrangement has many benefits

1. A lot more space for the Whuppies to stretch out in bed

2. Insulated and draughtproofed

3. Space for our dog crate to be installed should a NEW PUPPY arrive on the scene at a future date

The photo may not look much ( the space is a lot lager than it looks) but 'certain people' sweated on a hot afternoon to make it happen. The Whuppies on the otherhand lay in the sun most of the afternoon only rousing themselves for refreshment or to have a quick 'recce' at the progress.

Looks ideal Eve. Nice and cosy but with plenty of light and air. You could even have a litter of puppies in there 8)

Looks like the whuppies are happy with their new pad :D

I have to say, I sometimes regret having Lilly neutered but I do prefer to leave puppies to the experts. I have had so many rescues and preloved whippets.

The puppy is planned for after Foxy goes to Rainbow bridge and I hope that she has a year left at least. She is not up to a puppy. Toddy has been really good not bothering her but he has given her a few knocks that she could do without as she is very weak. The bigger bed is really for her benefit as she cannot curl up like she used to.

Lovely!!!!

That's given me a few ideas :- ( ......... Jane ponders best way to introduce "dog room renovation" to much maligned husband  )

It does help if you have a husband who imports and distributes board finishes in Scotland for a living and so has a lot of 'off cuts' and who has a garage FULL of every tool a man could wish for and never used (no jokes please! :b ) 8)

I was going to say that my husband doesn't have a tool and if he had, he wouldn't know what to do with it. :b :b :b However, better not say it as what I mean is that he is useless in the DIY department - Mr Bean's brother. :( :( However those whippies do look snug in their lovely new den and, when the time is right for the patter of tiny feet, it will be perfect. Well done you - don't women make great foremen and get things done in half the time. :D :D :D

It looks perfect - they look very comfy in their new den.

That looks so spacious and comfortable I would consider having some puppies in there myself!
