Can't wait to spread the news. :D

Electra, affectionately known as The Wicked Whippet at Isilwane Kennels near Canberra, gained the final points for her American Championship on the weekend. She will now be known as SBIS & BIS Aust & Am Ch Ridgesetter Fly The Flag ET.

Special thanks to co-owner in the USA, Phoebe Booth, for recognising Electra's quality when she was down under :teehee: for the National, and campaigning her in tough competition over there. Along the way, Electra achieved BOB and Best of Winners against some quality champion bitches. Not bad for our 19" dilute girl.

We all now anxiously await news of Electra's pending litter to Phoebe's boy, Edward. :- "

We might take the credit for breeding and choosing her for Lisa, but all Electra's achievements would never have been possible without much love and care from her owner, Lisa.

At the moment all the dramas and problems with breeding have dissolved and I'm one very happy and proud breeder.

Well done to all involved in The Wicked Whippet's successes!!! What an achievement  , especially for a dilute in the US ;)

A very well done to all those involved in her success  Yvette

Hearty Congrats Lisa, Toni (and Phoebe)! Electra's a lovely girl. :* And I don't mind admitting I'm just a little jealous of your success over there ;) but good on you!

Congratulations!!! Well done!

what's a dilute?
That's american for blue pigment. The American Whippet standard calls for a taller dog and also states that colour on nose and around eyes is black...

Very well done ,

I always thought DILUTE meant watered down (w00t)

It does! Blue is seen as 'watered down' black. Electra is a blue brindle parti. The Americans usually don't like very much this variation with the blue eye rims and nose and paler eye colour. They don't mind pale body colours but they want them with black brindling, black eye rims and nose, and dark dark eyes. :)

Huge congrats Toni, John and Lisa on Electra's great achievement in the USA. Great to see her beating those tall whippies. From my observation most of the Yanky judges can recognise quality in a whippet even when it is shorter, lighter etc than their own type. Electra cetainly has some quality about her so well done!!

Congratulations to Electra and all those who have made it possible for her.

Many thanks to everyone for their congratulations and to Toni for the post and the kind words. I can tell you all that when I walked into Toni & John's house four years ago and this flibbertygibbet was screaming around the house and up over the furniture, only stopping briefly now and again for me to see a glimmer of her beauty I said "I'll have that one" even though I knew I could be letting myself for a whole lot of trouble. But what glorious trouble it has been.

I am extremely proud of her, and grateful to Phoebe (Shamasan Whippets) and Joan Fisher for having faith in her. The fact that she sleeps under the covers on Phoebe's bed is one of the main reasons we were willing to let her make the trip:))

Whilst Electra is a Blue Brindle Parti she has black nose and eye pigment but a coat colour matched eye colour (not yellow but not black). She has had a Group 4 placement and her BOB and BOW (best of winners) wins too - all "from the classes" which means from the age classes that don't include Champions (her Aussie title didn't count over there). Once she has had her babies and decided that she doesn't want to be with them anymore she will re-enter the showring and "special" (show in the BOB class) until she is due to return home.

And Gago I agree with you on the US judges as she has been awarded by Whippet Specialists, Hound and Sighthound Specialists & what would be better known as Generalist judges. And she has been beaten because she is small too. But I think all of those things happen here as well :)) )

To add an English flavour to the converstaion - Shirley Rawlings awarded Electra the win in the Australasian Sweepstakes which was held at the National in September, so her appeal is widespread.

Again many thanks everyone for your congrats. And yes that's her in my ID.
