I am thinking of buying a very cheap, basic, small camper van, and have seen a couple of Renault Holdsworths locally.

The idea is to see if I can cope with driving one as I am trying to convert OH to a motor home instead of a caravan in the future. I would like to do more touring in Britain, which is not so practical with a caravan, and I would also like to share the driving, but I would not want to tow the caravan.

How/where do the dogs travel? I currently have a crate in the car, but I don't think this would fit in a camper.

Do you leave the dogs unattended in the vehicle for short periods of time, such as when shopping?

What happens when you need to go into towns? Is it diffult to access supermarkets?

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks.

We used to have a Volkswagen camper van and Ziggy, our whippet, either travelled on the seat with a seat belt harness or on a mattress on the floor. I'm not a very confident driver but could just about cope with driving it but parking could be a problem at times so I usually left it to my OH. Most supermarkets don't have height barriers in their car parks so accessibility should be fine. We never left him unattended in the van and so would always take it in turn to go shopping.

We did find we were a bit short on space as we have two teenage boys as well so we've now moved on to a bigger motorhome but my OH has to do all the driving now as it's just a bit too big for me to handle. :sweating:

We've had great fun in our campers and I hope you do too.
