TIMMY
Timmy is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who retired from racing a several months ago. Timmy’s owners decided to give him to us as they are elderly and thought it would be nice for him to go to a home where he could get lots of love and exercise. He has been very well looked after and his pretty brindle coat is in gorgeous condition.
Timmy has been handled well and is a really lovely chap. He is a very easy and laid back boy who likes the quiet life and loves his cuddles. He walks beautifully on the lead and is a very ‘classic greyhound’ – a big 45 mph couch potato!
This gorgeous boy has been in a home before and behaved very well there. He is housetrained and non-destructive, and was ok to be left with other dogs for company. He has not been tested with cats yet, but this can be carried out prior to adoption if requested. Timmy would do well in a range of home types, and would be a very good dog for a first time greyhound owner.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Timmy is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Timmy, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!
