I took Tom my Jack Russell who was diagnosed with heart failure last February to the vets yesterday lunchtime as he was having fainting episodes...came around usually after 30 seconds....happily walked into the vets had a play with a pup ....had a fuss made of him whilst waiting to be seen ....had a cough and went over to one side ...I scooped him up into my arms but he never recovered and died in my arms.....to say I am shocked is an understatement....he is the only dog in my whole life who has died naturally.....a wonderful way to go for him ....
He was my heart dog a tiny package that thought he was a rotweiller...the kindest sweetest dog I have ever had the privilege to adopt 8 yrs ago ....he has taken a piece of my heart with him ...the last of our original pack all gone within 15 months ......
Run fast and free with your mates again ...

Oh bless him , that is so very sad and such a shock for you and so heartbreaking , you have given him the best life ever and he was with you where he wanted to be when he passed , sending you love and hugs xxxx rest easy now beautiful Tom xxxx

I'm so sorry Kara, you've really been though the mill over the last year and a bit. Gentle hugs from us.

Oh no, what a shock for you! It's good that he went so quickly though - I hope that is some comfort. Hugs from me too xx

So, so sorry @Tinytom, heart breaking and a blessing that he went in your arms, all at the same time.
Thinking of you all and sending hugs... Run in peace TinyTom, back with your pack xx

I am so sad for your pain and loss. You've had a rotten time. When you feel up to it, reflect on the lovely times you gave all your dogs, and that Tom did not suffer. Hugs and empathy.

It makes a void and a half. Words won’t help. Thoughts and hugs. X

I am so very sad for you and such a heart rendering loss. He was very lucky to have been cared for during his time on this earth by such a wonderful mum and doggie family. The ending as big a shock for you as I am sure it would have been - how wonderful for him to have been scooped up in the arms of the love of his life and held as he crossed over to eternal heaven. He will always be watching over you! Sending lots of love, from Robin and I xx

So sorry to hear about your loss, I posted last year about my dog Monty who had heart failure,
I was warned that he could die suddenly at any moment which seems to be what happenned with Tom.
I realize what an awful shock it must have been but it was a real blessing that he was spared the sufferring
that heart failure can bring and most importantly he passed in the arms of the person he loved the most,
sounds like he knew nothing about it and would not have been in any pain.Hopefully he is with Monty and all the other
dogs on Rainbow Bridge.

Tears run down my face as I feel and share your pain. Your story reminds me so very much of mine with my Mildred whom I lost almost nine years ago. I always have felt she was the dog of my life and possibly always will be but my Sassi is already trying hard. Your new ones will give you so much joy and love but never overshadow Tiny Tom. Love to you all
