I think without trying to upset anyone that the poor turn out is largely due to those who live in the north east not supporting their own opens and has been for some time now i am sure there are lots more than 20 dogs in this area running at clubs ---just my observations---i always support the n/east when possible and enjoy the trip and company ---but was unable on this occasion due to prior commitments---but hope to be there next week --

Steve

i think from the north east region we had about 9 competeing dont know about north yorks but i know the north east dont have a lot of bend dogs we have only just got our 2 going but crackin whizz got an infection in her foot! :(

just out of curiosity ive had a look @ the regions where the dogs were from that ran yesterday & heres wot i came up with:

north yorks ran 12 dogs

north east ran 9 dogs

scotland ran 3 dogs

only 1 dog came from south of the region which was ruby murray which ran twice making it 26 on the card so out of 25 dogs 21 of them were local

Interesting comment steve, and strangely enough it was very annoying!!...................I have tried to think of any bend dogs from the north east that didn't run..........and i can only think of one or two. Perhaps a combination of factors led to a poor turnout,( including the straight superleague the next day) not the fact that we don't support our own opens. Altho only a small number of dogs ran, there was a canny turnout of people to watch the racing and give support.

I can't help thinking that if this was for top ten points there would have been a better turn out

mmmm.... 26 dogs that is abysmal - :(
not just disappointing like Westhoughton with approx.60 dogs....

Karen

(w00t) 60 dogs would have been a cracking turn out for some clubs

Correct Len-

I think also that Steve's observation spans to previous years turnouts-when we 'have' been there and noticed who hasn't attended-

All in all its a shame...

Better luck next week eh?

Karen

All in all I thinks its a bit ironic that this open should be called the "Travellers" open (w00t)

Yes-Maybe...but all in all the dogs that made the numbers up were lurchers from Ireland and pedigrees-from far and wide...

and after all the effort, prize money, trophies etc from Vicky/Jacs/ team and the stadium owners

I would still have expected a few more...

Call me greedy Lol 8)

We stopped racing mid-november. I've got 2 in season, one just out of season and one who's stuffed in the head and is being kept off for the winter to try and get it out of her head that she's not going to get smacked silly every time she runs on the track. :(

That's us not attending but hopefully we'll be there at the start of next season like we've done for the last few years

Ok then as long as I've got your permission :D

After much research....Lol

If you look at last years thread/turnout you will see that you're not so badly off after all-

You had 25 dogs attending-last year

so you've got 1 more this year!

And 9 were from the North west!

3 being ours 8)

Karen

Very interesting looking at the comparison of times between last year and this year --

Steve

was only 25 dogs ruby murray ran twice making it 26 on the card

good to compare the times look @ deneside belle as a yearling 14.50 then yesterday 14.06!

this is just my opinion, but some people only want to run top ten points  additional never seem to get good turnouts.and i think the scottish deserve a medal for the traveling they have to do.well done to all of those who turned out to this open.

a coment on the times there is a change to the track ithink it is 3 meters short on last year that is why the times are faster

Cheers anth for letting us in on that bit of info ---

steve
