This is my first attempt so please be patient. About 20 years ago I owned a whippet/greyhound cross out of RCh Haymaker and a sprint greyhound called Carol Upton. Sam was black with white toes and chest and at 8 months was about 38pounds. He was bred in Boston Lincs. I was forced into selling him(either dog goes or wife goes) Sadly I made the wrong choice and sold Sam to a very nice family that owned a good few racing whippets. They took him on at the Boston track, I believe they had a converted van to transport their dogs. I remember their dogs were all in fantastic condition. I think it was a Father and two daughters that ran the dogs. Just out of curiosity can anyone remember this dog and does anyone know what became of him. I often think about him and vow that I'll never make the same mistake again.

I'm sure someone will be able to help....a lot dogs racing today have the Haymaker bloodline...

Hi Paul, Thanks for your encouragement. I've just realised it must be 25 years ago. At the time I was doing a lot of coursing and ferreting with a chap called Al Hooton. I think I'm wasting time as you can't turn the clock back. Thanks again for your time, hope to get a dog soon but have to wait as 1st baby due any day now. :( :(

carol upton (ghd) had a litter to SING ON,and it produced SING SONG & STILTON BLUE. i will keep looking as it seems to ring a bell that breeding. :))

Hi Johng, Many thanks for the info. Carol Upton seems to have been a popular dam with whippet racers. I think the Sing On litter may have been a later one.

I'm fairly certain that my dog was from a litter the year Haymaker became RCh. The mists of time are getting thicker with every day. Really do appreciate your help and time. Thanks to all K9 fans.

Hello pauline. I'm not sure where Al Hooton lives,we lost contact afew years ago. We were in the RAF together and did a lot of fishing, ferreting.coursing etc. He used to live in Bawtry, Yorkshire and had a very well trained lurcher called Blue bred by Brian Plummer, I think from the same litter as Plummers Merle. I doubt there could be 2 Al Hootons, he's a big Lancs lad. Nice talking to you.Cheers.
