LURCHERS ON DEATH ROW - DUE TO DIE TUES 1st NOV - PLEASE HELP!
By Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary · Updated on Saturday · Taken at Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary
When Lyn Friel, Crosskennan’s Manager, visited the pharmacy at the Twelfth Milestone in Templepatrick on Wed 26th October to collect dressings for a badly injured pony, she was surprised to find two Lurchers running around in the car park outside. With the help of the shop assistant, the dogs were caught. Lyn and CLAS volunteer Claire searched the area for an owner without any success. As Crosskennan’s kennels are full to capacity, the Antrim Dog Warden had to be called to pick up the frightened dogs. When we asked what would happen if an owner didn’t turn up, we were told they would be put to sleep on Tues 1st Nov. Owners for this type of dog don’t usually turn up to claim their dogs.
The dogs are a brindle male 2-3 years old and a fawn female 7-8 months old. Both are lovely natured, calm, obedient and trusting. They are now on Antrim Council website Dogs Alone page.
Lyn appeals. “ Can you help to identify the owners or find them a new home, as the look on their faces when they were put in the van is one I will never forget. Sending them off with a death sentence hanging over them is something I just can’t live with.”
If you can help please, please contact Crosskennan on 028 9446 5384 or email crosskennan@hotmail.co.uk

PS Crosskennan has had some offers of at least short-term help but may need something longer-term so do ring them Monday if you can help
