Hi every one,

i'm just reposting a message i found on another site about this dog who is in need of an emergancy home.

Can any one help Charley? My vet has just phoned me to ask if I could post this appeal on our website. He is due to be put to sleep in 1 week!!

Charley is 9 months old, b+w short haired. Is rather protective of his own home area, very good on walks with other dogs and children that he knows. Ball mad, sadly he is there because he nipped someone, but the vet says he was in a very inexperienced home -the wrong one for a collie! He has charmed everyone at the surgery, but no one can fit him in - so he can't be that bad.

Please can any one give this poor young dog a Christmas home????

The vet's number is 01565 872035 (Knutsford Cheshire area)

It has since been found that he is actually 4 years old anot 9 months as previously thought. Pictures can be seen by following this link to the BFA website,

http://www.flyball.org.uk/webboard/message...html?1197843183

He is due to be put to sleep in a day or so, so if you are able to help him at all then it must be done soon.

Thank you for reading this.

Whereabouts is he at the moment?

It might be better if he goes to a good rescue for assessment rather than be passed from one home to another. I agree that Wiccaweys would be the very best place for him if they can fit him in.

If not I'll try to think of some other rescues local to where he is that you could try.

have tried wiccaweys and they are aware of him but cannot help.

ill crosspost this on a rescue site i go on and they have a lot of collie lovers on there fingers crossed. :luck:

just seen this reply from teresa who runs the rescue i posted him on

Right i have spent alot of time on sorting this boy out today even gave the vets the offer of contacting Joe Ingles (Vets in Practice) as he likes his rescued Border Collies.

But i have been informed by the Said Vets that have Charley not to worry as as a rescue is going to them to asses and that she will be going away on friday for Christmas and if not sorted he will be PUT TO SLEEP.

Why do i call it the silly season i wonder

although he's a collie, perhaps Greyhound Gap site will let you put out an urgent appeal for a foster home

also get on line and on the phone and seek out all the collie rescue groups you can

It's horrible to be under such pressure of time and especially at Christmas when everyone is either busy or shutting down. Can you yourself offer short term fostering?

whatever, good of you to try to sort something for this dog

teresa posted this last night.shes rang and offered to take him in with her rescue charity but they turned her down and said this group is going to take a look at him and if they dont take him hell be put to sleep.at least she tried her best she cant do anything else :(

"Not sure how they work it out. Its a big of a mess but my conscience is clear i have offered but was turned down.

Chilton Dog Rescue (Anyone heard of them ) are going in Friday to take a look at this boy and if they dont take him he will be PTS because the nurses are going away for christmas"

Everything crossed things work out for him :(

I really don't understand why, if they have been offered a definite rescue place, they are holding on for another rescue who aren't yet sure they will take him. Do you think there is more to his behaviour problems than just having 'nipped' and they feel he's not safe to pass on without a proper assessment? It all sounds a bit odd otherwise.

from what i can gather yes Fee,he may have problems and thats why theyre waiting to see if this rescue will take him if not hell be put to sleep.i think reading between the lines he might have a few other issues.(maybe theyre having him assessed and waiting to see what happens)either way teresa tried her best and i know when teresa tries she means it ;)

am so glad to hear the efforts to save this dog have paid off

if c.d.r. hadnt have taken him, teresas rescue in birmingham would have gone out of their way to take him and find him a home.i knew she would, shes a sucker for a collie! :D

Excellent news :D

We've had contact with Chilterns Dog Rescue via the Oldies Club, and they are very caring people. I'm sure he will be in good hands there :luck:
