I have a two year old jrt x bichon, who - i must add - was an absolute nightmare to house train.
He has always slept in a crate (he used to love it, he now hates it) but for the past few months he has been weeing in it! Very unusual behaviour. He is let out for a wee just before I go to bed, and I'm back up in the morning about 7 hours later.
Obviously, I couldn't stand the thought of him sleeping in his own urine, and the washing was getting ridiculous, so I experimented and let him sleep in the kitchen with his crate door open instead. The first few nights were fine, but after a couple of days I would come down to a puddle on the floor.
On rare occasions he is left alone in the house for 8 hours, just in the kitchen with access to his bed and water, he does not urinate, so I don't feel like it is that he physically can't hold it in anymore.
Very confused and looking for suggestions on both why he has started doing this, and what I can do to resolve it.
thanks
