On behalf her co-owners, my close friends, Danny Smith and Rieky Veurmann, and her breeder Molly Rule-Steele, I wish to bid farewell to one of our Central Queensland Greats, Grand Champion Taejaan Cineraria. Mana died suddenly and inexplicably early on Wednesday morning after seemingly successfully coming through a speying operation the day before.
We don't know exactly what went wrong; her owners were too distressed to do a post mortem and she was brought home to lay to rest.
It has been a tragic shock to everyone who loved her, but naturally Danny and Rieky are hardest hit - especially as the decision to spey was carefully thought through in consultation with the vet and all thought they were doing the best for her - the beginnings of Pyometra had been detected and it was expected to give her another six or seven years of a trouble-free old age.
Mana was - a grand champion, a Multi Best in Show winner, the dam of champions and one grand champion, a fantastic start for Rieky's son Brenton who learned all his junior handling through her, an excellent junior handlers' dog for other youngsters throughout her long career, a darling to live with and a sweetheart of all who knew her.
Rest peacefully at the rainbow bridge, Mana - you don't have to go to dog shows there honey, if you don't feel like it.
Goodbye Darling - our hearts will not recover easily from the shock of your departure.
