It has been a couple of weeks now since Alf and Jill Barnard's young Vanilla Fudge met an untimely end, and I'm pretty sure nothing has been posted on here so ....

I don't think either Alf or Jill frequent the K9 site so any sympathy messages won't be seen, but thats no excuse for not offering them and I offer mine now.

For those of you who didn't hear of this terrible accident - and I doubt that there are many - bad news always seems to travel fastest - Vanilla Fudge was mooching around the field on a non race day while Alf was part of a working party and found a gap into the adjoining field where he chased after a grazing horse. The horse kicked backwards knocking him out completely, and although he was rushed to the vets the damage was to severe for him to be saved.

All our dogs are precious and without doubt we can all say thank god it wasn't one of mine - Vanilla Fudge was in his peak and will be a very sad loss to the Barnards so once again ... my sympathies Alf and Jill, enjoy your other dogs as best you can, and you never know but Vanilla Ice may be waiting around some future corner. :))

That is such a shame. RIP Vanilla Fudge, what a great name

Thats terrible news , I dont know the dog or the owners , but to lose a friend in those curcumstances before his time is really sad :(

R I P Vanilla Fudge

RIP Vanilla Fudge... what a shame to go like that.

Sincere condolences from us too.

I don't know the owners or the dog but that is the sort of thing that could happen to any of us, and it really made my blood run cold to hear that a dog had lost it's life in that way

RIP Vanilla Fudge.

I had heard about this and do feel so sorry for Alf & Gill.

RIP Vanilla Fudge.

terrible accident to happen.my deepest sympathies,i dont know the owners personally, but we are all dog lovers here and knowing how much we love our dogs we can imagine the pain they feel :(

So sorry to hear that RIP little lad

I've heard of this happen so many times from horsey friends - it must be devastating for the owners. It's bad enough to lose an old dog, but to lose a young dog in these kind of circumstances is awful :(

We hadn't heard either Scott - such sad news.

RIP Vanilla Fudge
