It was actually my Sky that was runner up in stake 11 and she was fantastic for a baby, i was really chuffed with her

The final was a great run and Sky and Murphy were neck and neck all the way....but Murphys neck is a bit longer then Sky's! :teehee:

It was a great day and if any one has any photos i would love to see them

thought for a minute you had got another dog there helen...lol....well done with sky though  ...sue..x

Ha Ha so did i then for a Minute!!! (w00t)

Thanks. It was the 1st time out of double slip collar as well  ....dogs were slipped the old fashioned coursing way! This was perfect - every slip was spot on

 This was a cracking morning's running. As already said above, everything went like clockwork, the slipper was excellent, well i guess he would be having been trained by the best!!

All the dogs ran, some out of first time double slips, so a reallly good morning. I was especially pleased with little Rafa, he is coming on really well know, maybe a force to be reackoned with next year when he has fully grown.

AND Zante, what can i say about my little girl, she keeps on surprising me, I've always known she is a really quick dog, but yesterday she proved that she can do the distance as well. I was very pleased with her and really chuffed that she won her stake.

I know Maria took some good photos of her coming out of the slips, i'll see if she'll put them on here.

JEN, yes please if you have some pics, would love to see them, PM me and i let you have my email address.

Well done to all that raced, I don't think there was a bad race there, most were nip and tuck all the way

SORRY I GOT THE NAMES WRONG BUT IT WAS THE BEST AND CLOSEST RACE WITH THE LURCHERS AND A JOY TO WATCH

WELL DONE MURPHY AND SKY.

GREAT DAY! THOUGH.

It was a very good race and i must admit that from where i was standing down on the start line i thought Sky had it!! :( Never mind! Next year, next year!! :D

Well done to everyone else as well, as Sarah said, all the dogs ran fantastic ;)

Agree, very nice day, & totally relaxing !! Sarah we will have to run Rebus & Zante out of double slips, when they are both fresh.

Well done to everybody, especially to Zante for flying the family flag !! :D

Having the dogs released out of double slips was a luxury, it is the ONLY way to get an even start, fortunately all the lurchers who ran yesterday accepted them, which is quite unusual, because the hounds are what are called 'Barelled Up' under their belly by the long leather strap which forms part of the slips. Sometimes inexperienced hounds resent being so close & will play up, but the slipper is in total control. There is a real art to good slipping & Mel Nichols was & still is one of the best pre & post ban.

Zante & Ziba in slips with Mel Nichols, notice the leather slip underneath their bellies.

Sarah putting Rebus in slips for me, the red collar dog always runs on the left, white on the right.

For Helen - Murphy (Red Collar) & her Sky (who had a fab race with Rebus in the previous round) in the final of their stake.

BRILLIANT PHOTO'S MARIA, IT IS REALLY GOOD TO BE ABLE TO SEE HOW THE DOGS TAKE OFF ON THEIR RUN. AS USUALLY YOU ARE STUCK AT THE OTHER END WAITING TO CATCH THEM AND DON'T SEE ANY OF THE ACTION.

WE BOUGHT TWIZZLE OUR NEW WHIPPET A MUZZLE OFF OF SUE ( SHE HAD PLASTIC COVERED WIRE ONES IN ALL SIZES FOR SALE). AS SHE WOULDN'T KEEP THE PLASTIC ONES ON OR REFUSED TO RACE IN IT. I HAVE BEEN TAKING OUT FOR WALKS IN IT SINCE SUNDAY AND TONIGHT SHE DIDN'T TRY AND CLAW IT OFF UNTIL WE ARRIVED HOME.

SO HOPEFULLY AT THE NEXT MEETING SHE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE PART AS WELL

EITHER ON 5TH SEPTEMBER OR THE OCTOBER MEETING AT LOPCOMBE CORNER

TERRY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY OF THE PHOTO'S OF ZIBA AND ZANTI IF YOU ARE PRINTING THEM OFF..
